Topics like sex and sexuality have been kept in the closet for many years. Only recently has it become an acceptable matter of discussion. Society has come out with sexual education programs, pornography, and television shows in the media that depict sex as sport. Homosexuality is still a sensitive topic and generates much controversy in today’s society. Many studies between homosexual, heterosexual, and bisexual people have been conducted to learn about human’s sexual behavior. Is homosexuality Nature or Nurture? Like most everything, homosexuality involves both influences. Sexual orientation is described as patterns of emotional, romantic, and/or sexual attractions to men, women, both genders, neither gender, or another gender. Sexual orientation is usually discussed in terms of three categories, heterosexuality, homosexuality, and bisexuality; and asexuality is increasingly recognized as a fourth. In modern sexology, researchers apply tools from several academic fields, including biology, medicine, psychology, statistics, epidemiology, sociology, anthropology, and criminology. It studies sexual development and the development of sexual relationships as well as the mechanics of sexual intercourse. Sexology is the scientific study of sexual interests, behavior, and function.  
Among the most famous of sexologists, is Alfred Kinsey.   Kinsey is often regarded as the father of sexology. Living in a time when sexuality was never a topic of exploration, Kinsey defied the times and published Sexual Behavior in the Human Male and Sexual Behavior in the Human Female. Alfred Kinsey spent 25 years conducting his famous sex surveys. He and his staff interviewed more than 18,000 men and women asking about the relative frequency of practices like masturbation and premarital, extramarital, and homosexual sex.
