The Alpine biome is a beautiful, but treacherous area; the cold temperatures mean that the life there has to be tough to survive. Because plants reproduce so slowly in the frigid weather, it is also a very fragile biome. The Alpine Biome is located between 10,000 feet and snow level on the mountains. There are not many species of plants that can survive the climate conditions of this biome. The temperature ranges from 50 to 60 degrees in the summer and drop below freezing in the winter.
It grows very well in forest-like environments similar to that of Asia, It enjoys very high summer temperature and loves a lot of rain. However, Kudzu adapts to its environment in areas like pastures, rail embarkments, inland water banks, all areas whether it is natural or semi-natural habitat. Kudzu does not like cold weather. This is probably the reason why the northern states within the USA do not have Kudzu. It can survive frosted soil and is partial to loose soil, but adapts in otherwise less favorable conditions.
It is more pronounced in the summer. (b) Why? They can keep summer temperatures way down, in the winter, they often keep temperatures from getting too cold. 4. (a) Comparing the January map with the July map, describe one region of the world that exhibits a large annual temperature range (the difference between the January and July average temperatures): Siberia.
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Hawaii Hawaii is located in the Pacific Ocean, 20 degree North Latitude and 155 degrees West Longitude in the world. The Hawaii Island is 4, 028 sq. miles (10,430 km²).the Big Island of Hawaii 300,000 years old (and still enlarging now). Weather in Hawaii is very consistent, with only minor changes in temperature throughout the year. There are only 2 seasons: summer from May to October and winter from November to April.
For example, between 50,000 and 100,000 people died during the drought in East Africa which affected the countries of Somalia, Ethiopia and Kenya. These countries have dry climates all year round and increased droughts due to climate change are making the survival of these people more and more difficult. However, not only LICS are affected by droughts, other areas, such as Australia, also suffer. Sydney has been experiencing the worst drought in 100 years, called the Big Dry, which has only recently ended. With global warming and climate change weather is becoming more extreme, with
As a result, earthquakes can and do occur, notably on Luzon Island in 1990. It measured 7.8 on the Richter Scale and killed over 1500 people. A reason for this major difference in death rate compared to California is that the Philippines is poorer than California and so cannot afford as much earthquake-proof buildings and the buildings are of poor quality. This may mean the buildings can collapse easily and so can kill people easily. A natural hazard that does not affect California but common in the Philippines are tropical storms.
The downside to the central highlands though are multiple thunderstorms that cause incredible damage due to lighting strikes. The capital, Antananarivo, receives almost all its average annual 1.4 meters of rainfall between the months of November and April. The dry season is nice and sunny but can be cooler in the morning time. Frost is common at the highest elevations in Madagascar and provides some of the clearest blue skies to view in the world. The west coast is much drier than the central highlands and east coast due to the winds losing humidity by the time they reach this side of island.
The climate in Denmark is very consistent throughout the country mostly because it is a relatively small and there is not much chance for the weather to change. Because it is so far north, this means that in the late months of the year such as December, the sun will only show itself for 7 hours, however in the summer the sun will appear for a whole 17 hours. The amount of sun that presents itself throughout the year makes it so that the seasons are very different and the temperature changes dramatically from winter so summer. The average temperature in the month of July is approximately 18 degrees Celsius (64.4 Fahrenheit). As this is only the average temperature it can get to be between 26 and 30 Celsius (78-86 Fahrenheit) during the month of July and throughout the summer.
Hurricanes and Tornadoes Hurricanes and tornadoes are the two most deadly storms which hit the United States every year. Often confused with each other hurricanes and tornadoes contribute to over 80 deaths a year. Hurricanes and tornadoes are similar and different in many ways. The experiences of living through a hurricane or tornado can be life changing. Both tornadoes and hurricanes destroy homes, businesses, and take people lives.
Snow can also stick to power lines and cause power outages. Back in October of 1997 on a seemingly mild start of the day. There was a huge thunderstorm, where later in the day a massive snowstorm that came in from the Rocky Mountains. The clouds produced about two feet of snow into Lincoln, causing major power
