In the commercial airline industry, there are two major aircraft manufacturing companies such as Boeing and Airbus, which provide various commercial aircrafts worldwide. In this sense, the two major providers of aircrafts have been meeting with cutthroat competition in the airline industry. Even though Boeing and Airbus are in the same industry, they use notably different management strategies to become a market leader in this competition. This paper will demonstrate the decision making process of an organisation of choosing an aircraft of different segments from two major aircraft manufacturing companies, Airbus and Boeing. In this step, it will illustrate analyzing decision making process of Boeing and Airbus with the application a variety of decision support tools that we have learned in this course. Background According to Wikipedia (2012), William E. Boeing founded The Boeing in 1916 which is an American multinational aerospace and defense corporation, in Seattle, Washington. Airbus was founded in the late 1960s in the hope of preserving the remnants of Europe’s fragmented commercial jetliner manufacturing base, consolidating it, and growing it into an international competitor(Olienyk & Carbaugh, 2011).
