Fuel combustion and automobile transportation are two large factors of air pollution. Both factors release a production of heat and chemicals into the atmosphere causing for an excessive amount of wasted heat. Furthermore, the problem of extra heat leads to the production of a number of harmful health issues and environmental scrutiny. Global warming, global community has long been a vocal advocate and critic of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Hundreds of disease oriented and professional health provider organizations have provided pollution, smog, and ozone layer damaging are all results of air pollution.
Acid Rain in North America is a very serious issue which needs to be addressed. It affects the environment in many different ways affecting, lakes, trees, animal, and other living things. If people are willing to help, the chances of disaster will be decrease, but if actions do not take place, then the acid rain will cause a lot of damages to the environment. Wet deposition is a form of acid deposition which includes fog or snow. In this process acidic water flows over and through the ground and affects varieties of plants and animals.
Combustion of organic compounds can result in detrimental impacts on the environment such as the generation of acids and production of carbon monoxide, particulates and soot. When organic compounds that contain sulphur, nitrogen are combusted, the reaction may produce gases such as sulphur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide and carbon dioxide. When these compounds react with water molecules, it will produce acids which fall as acid rain.Acids dissolve calcium carbonate, meaning that monuments made from marble and limestones are particularly vulnerable. In environmental terms, acid rain flows into water bodies. Acid rain releases aluminium from the soils into the water, an element which is highly toxic to many species of aquatic organisms.
2013).Pharmaceutical companies sometimes place active chemicals and waste into groundwater sources, in which almost all of the groundwater may be untreated which most likely cause contamination. (Herber, 2002). Abstract: Increase in the emissions of carbon dioxide by burning fossil fuels is the largest cause of environmental down grading resulting not only in global warming but also causing acid rain which alters the pH balance of ground water. Water is a universal solvent; however, its dissolving properties are very sensitive to changes in temperature and pH. Global economic growth has, unfortunately,
SO2, sulfur dioxide effects our trees and water systems and is the prominent cause of acid rain. Mercury- when Mercury enters our water systems it becomes harmful to our ecology (fish, plants, animals etc) and effects anyone who consumes part of the food chain. Nitrogen
If a human inhales ground-level ozone it can cause chest pain, throat irritation, and congestion. It also affects the wild life as the animals that eat certain leaves and plant which can have problems producing food. Chlorofluorocarbons are normally found in Freon, halons, methyl bromide, methyl chloroform and carbon tetrachloride. The damage CFCs causes to our ozone layer is very dangerous especially since the ozone layer protects us from ultra violet radiation from the sun. If we continue to dispose of these chemicals in correctly it will continue hurt us especially by affecting the brain, eyes, heart, kidney and the reproductive system if large amount is exposed to
As a result, many trucks have to travel to and fro the mining site to supply the water and other amenities causing dust pollution and soil erosion on the dirt roads. Chemicals used in the fracking process are able to sip through cracks in the rocks and the soil and contaminate any water sources they meet. This water finds its way into the community or cities. When consumed, these chemicals can lead to cancer, defects in newly-born babies and disorders in the nervous system. Large amounts of methane and other poisonous gases released into the air from the gas wells contribute to heavy air pollution and global warming.
Abstract San Francisco Bay Area water pollution is a serious problem. The sources of pollution include mercury contamination, pesticide pollution, and storm drain runoff. Water runoff is causing oil, trash, pesticides, and murcury to travel from urban and industrial areas into the bay. Mercury is a harmful neurotoxin that is harmful for developing fetuses and young children. Pesticides are used to kill unwanted pests, but are polluting the water with toxic chemicals that can have large halflifes, which means they stay in the water many years causing harm to plants and animals who depend on fresh water to survive.
Global Warming Louis Clemens HUM/111 11/20/2011 Katie Newbanks Global warming has become a major concern over the last century. The world is much hotter now than the past. Many reasons are to blame for this global temperature increase such as fossil fuels releasing C02 emissions. C02 emissions are released from coal, oil, and natural gas burning. Coal, natural gas, and oil are burned for energy in many ways such as cars and power plants.
Whether you drive your car to work, turn on your light to illuminate a dark room or just watching television, you are burning using up energy that is being processed at a coal plant. Now that you know the enemy, let me inform you of its damage. Over the years, it’s been recorded that global warming has warmed up the entire planet causing water levels to rise; this may lead to devastating floods in costal cities all across the world. If that isn’t bad enough, we’re causing man made diseases with all the pollutants in the air. One such disease would be asthma, which takes the lives of 250,000 worldwide every year.
