Air and Water Pollution Pollution is known to be destructive materials or harvests let into the earth’s environment. Many forms of pollution consist of air, water, soil, light, and noise pollution. One-way or another, each pollutant contributes to a negative effect in the change of the environment. Pollution disturbs floras, animal life, water sources, earths ozone layer, and it causes a numerous of wellbeing complications in individuals. Air and water pollution will be discussed to help determine the different types of pollutions and how they affect the environment. Primary and Secondary Pollutants Air pollutants can consist of several different types of pollutants. These pollutants are split into to categories known as primary and secondary pollutants. A primary pollutant is something that stems directly from a source such vehicle emissions, which is constantly used daily. A secondary pollutant forms when two pollutants react in the atmosphere such as acid rain. The first type of air pollutant is the burning of fossil fuels, which is known as a primary pollutant. Living in Southern California smog is a fact of life for many individuals. Smog stems directly from the burning of fossil fuels from sources, such as vehicle emissions and industrial emissions. With the population being so high numerous of cars, boats, aircraft, and other fuel burning vehicles are constantly in use every day. As a result, Southern California is trying to eliminate as much pollution as possible by placing radiation regulations, taxes on gas, and firm punishments for failure to obey with set criteria. A secondary air pollutant is ozone. This particular pollutant is created while both hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides join together in the existence of daylight and high temperatures. This particular air pollutant can cause serious damage to individuals if they inhale too much of it.
