Social and emotional developement. Learning to live with others in both family and society is generally one of the most important part's of development, family and friend's play an important part towards this. The socialisation is all about learning to cope in the family and society we live in. The socailisation process will by it's definition vary in diffrent societies and from family to family. Primary socialisation take's place with in the family,in the first years of a childs life.
As these generations age, society changes as well as the family values. Adjustments are made to meet both individual and society needs. The three key processes in which children learn values and develop character should start with the forming of emotional attachments, teaching of pro-social behavior, and respect for authority; and abiding by the rules both within the family structure and society. The forming of emotional attachment should start at birth. First the infant bonds with its mother.
Socialisation is a very important part of childhood, as it benefits us throughout life. There will be an in-depth look at socialisation and can gain an understanding of how students learn, children’s physical, social and intellectual development, and how culture and other factors impact on teaching strategies. An in-depth look into socialisation and its aims, the key agents of socialisation, methods which are based on theoretical understandings which support socialisation and how socialisation impacts on child development and learning. Until recently, socialisation research was primarily fixated on the result of influences which were outside of the child or influences on the inside of the child. These could have included the influence of a prominent adult figure or unconscious motives.
It starts at the moment a child is born and lasts a life time. Family is the strongest during a child's infancy/toddler years. During this a child learns from a family such things as; language abilities, body control, emotional control, rules of society, and moral values. Family also plays a key part in early sex-role socialization, racial/ethnic prejudices, and determining the childs attitude towards religion/culture. The power family has becomes weakened as a child becomes a teenager from the influence he/she has from peer groups and the media.
Values This assignment will discuss personal values and how we acquire them. I will discuss Professional values and the importance of a value base for social work. Over many years, numerous lists of professional values have been created; the history of these lists will be examined together with the codes of practice and anti discriminatory practice in relation with the treatment of Sylvia who has Huntington’s disease. We are all born as entirely reliant infants, but through close proximity with our primary educators (mainly our parents), we are taught how to exist in our culture and acquire our personal values, which are inherited and passed down from generation to generation. Primary socialisation is during the early years of our life and is the most important developmental stage a human being can go through.
Socialization is the learning process to become a unique individual and capable member of society it is also about how people acquire those beliefs, attitudes, values and, certainly, behavior that finally become their way of thinking. A person is socialized from the moment he/she born and one of the most important stages in socialization occur during infancy. It is a stage which a child acquire social experience from their parents and learn to adopt behavior patterns of the community in which they live. So if child’s personality developed out of society it is impossible for them to survive because the child who live or grow up in the isolation from the society has many problems and they can’t lead a normal life. Based on what I have read children with poor socialization skills are less likely to form healthy intimate relationships with other people, they more likely to experience rejection from society.
Being the oldest, I have had the opportunity to live life in the fast lane and experience at life first hand. Each birth of my siblings has been an important experience. Each has brought a new challenge, and with every challenge I have molded. I have taken these unexpected challenges and have created a greater insight on life. Each event and decision that these five wonderful gifts have brought me, have created me.
Together, these changes contribute to advances in one’s identity. Many aspects of the life course that were once socially structured such as marriage, parenthood, religious beliefs, and career paths are increasingly left to individual decision. Emerging adults play a more active role in their own development than at any earlier time. As they explore, they often face disappointments in love and work that require them to adjust, and sometimes change, their life path. It is therefore important an individual has social support to foster resilience.
However, not all experiences and influences will be positive. (Witt, G.A., & Mossley, R. A., 2010). Our first group experience in life, is with our parents and other family members, such as siblings. Our parents have the largest influences of how a person develops in an adult. In the first few years of life, we depend on our parents to feed us, bathe us, entertain us, soothe us, and so much more.
This human process is called social development. This being said, it is a continual change of human behaviors, feelings, and interpersonal thoughts; which will continue to develop over our life-span. Each phase of personal development will be essential in overall growth during childhood through adulthood. Social influences come from solitary comrade or group settings, which can have powerful effects on personal behaviors. The extent in which individuals are influences can depend on self-esteem levels, and individual strengths from moral, values to self-identity.
