Gonzalez Vanesa 6-3-08 Per. 1 Alcohol and Teen Drinking How many teens have gotten drunk? The majority of people in a class are underage. Now think, even though the people are under the age of 21, does it mean that no one in has ever tried alcohol? Lots of teens go to parties with alcohol and have temptations. I have researched this topic of underage drinking because I thought this issue would be extremely helpful to a lot of teens since we will most likely be going through experiences involving alcohol. Alcohol abuse and alcohol addiction are not only adult problems—they also influence a major number of adolescents between the ages of 12-20, even though drinking under the age of 21 is illegal. The three leading causes of death for 15 to 24 yr. olds are automobiles crashes, homicides, and suicides—alcohol is a leading in all three factors. Today, I am here to convince teens to think twice about picking up that next bottle of alcohol. According to focus adolescent services, annually, more than 5000 deaths of people under age of 21 are linked to underage drinking. What this means to me is that there are too many underage drinkers that are dying. Car crashes are the primary cause of death among people ages 15 to 20. According to focus adolescent services, about 1,400 people under 21 die every year from car crashes involving underage drinking. According to focus adolescent services, the three leading causes of death for 15 to 24 yr. olds are automobiles crashes, homicides, and suicides—alcohol is a leading in all three factors. Whatever it is that leads teenagers to begin drinking, once they start, they face a quantity of potential health risks.
