I am writing about a topic that is of interest to me, and since my life now is all about colleges, it is going to be college related. I have always heard about affirmative action, it is something big and very interesting. Interesting in a way that i don’t agree with it. I am strongly against affirmative action because this is a way of discriminating a race. Everybody wants to be equal and if affirmative action were to take place how is this equal for everyone when a person is treated better than the other not because of talent but because of skin color. we have always had a history of racism. shouldn't it be time this kind of action gets permanently removed? We are in the 21st century and these kind of believes shouldn't take place. There are two reasons why. First, Affirmative action leads to reverse discrimination. Affirmative action is designed to end discrimination and unfair treatment of employees/ students based on color, but in fact does the opposite. Whites who work harder or are more qualified can be passed over strictly because they are white. Contrary to many stereotypes, many minorities fall into the middle or upper class, and many white people live in poverty. Unfortunately the way things are set up on, poverty-stricken white students who use discipline and hard work to become what they want to be can be passed over by a rich minority student who doesn’t put in much effort at all. On the other hand, It would help lead a truly color blind Society. When you apply for a job or fill out a college application, how often are you asked about physical appearance? Unless it's for a modeling or athletic position, probably never. Why ? It's because hair and eye color don't have any effect on your ability to do a job or succeed at a school. There's no association between hair/eye color and intelligence, discipline, ambition, character, or other
