Dear Child, From the moment you are born, everyone is always giving you advice and telling you how you should live your life. I always listen to others’ advice; however, I do not always follow it. Some people receive advice without even knowing it. We are long past holding our parents’ hands while walking into Wal-Mart and we are long past listening to them tell us that our long hair is covering up our pretty faces, but where do you think we would be without their guidance? It easy to take our parents for granted. We often forget the sacrifices they have made for us, and the effort they put into making us happy and healthy. My grandmother has always told me that respect is a foundation to love. And with that in mind it is one of the best ways to show your parents that you love them is to treat them with respect. Everyone at some point in time in their life has probably hated their parents. I just want to give you a few tips to help you better appreciate your parents. First of all, be aware of, all of the things your parents do for you throughout your life. From everything to teaching you how to tie your shoes to teaching you how to ride a bike, be aware. If they didn’t teach you those things you would be a barefoot bum watching all of your friends ride around on bikes while you sit in the dirt. Be thankful. Similarly, how would you want your children to appreciate you? Thank them for the things they do, you don’t have to thank them for everything, just a friendly little reminder every now and then will make them feel very proud to have you as their child. Believe it or not, your parents were once your age, and chances are they have experienced the same thing you are going through. It's a given that sometimes your parents may seem totally clueless and you may feel like they can't possibly relate to the things you’re dealing with currently. They may not
