The Head & Shoulders advertisement introduces the new formula of shampoo and conditioner claim that it works to relieve dry scalp and dandruff and helps to repair damaged hair. The need for attention and need for aesthetic sensations are two appeals that applied to this advertisement. The advertiser use of female model with long, shiny and healthy hair as to represent an image of the hair product. This head & shoulders shampoo and conditioner product uses weasel words to claim that it can reduces dry scalp and dandruff and helps to repair damaged hair. It also leaves hair up to 10 times stronger. The advertiser use of need for attention and need for aesthetic sensations are ineffective because the advertisement contains many weasel words to make claims but in fact the product may not do anything at all. Summary: The advertiser use of female model smiling and curling her long hair as to let viewers know that she feel satisfied with her hair condition because she uses head & shoulder’s new dandruff shampoo and conditioner. Appeal 1: The need for attention is one of the Fowles appeals that applied to this advertisement. The advertisement aimed at consumers demand on hair products.
