In this essay I will be talking about how children are affected by television. Although many parents these days do not want their children to watch television, there are a lot of educational shows available today. Many parents may not want their children to watch modern television, and I would have to tell those parents that there are some shows out there these days that are very educational and they are aimed towards the young. Watching the educational cartoons can be very helpful for a child’s mind. There can be positive results emotionally, physically, and psychologically.
If the parents cannot control what there kids watch then don’t let them watch television when they are not there. The only merit I can think of is that if you watch something violent then it scares the hell out of you and you really don’t want to do what scared the hell out of you. Formulate a

Different censorings are the aspect of blocking the television shows and channels you would prefer not to watch. The more violent acts that individuals see on television the more death and crime rates go up in the United States.
Watching TV is fun and education for children, but in my opinion, screen time should be limited to no more than one hour a day while in child care and early education settings. The main reasons of this are because too much screen time can increase the risk of becoming overweight, lead to troubles in falling asleep, as well as result in some emotional, social and attention problems. Firstly, the more TV children watch, the greater his or her risk is of becoming overweight. For instance, kids often snack on junk food while watching TV. Therefore, they can develop an appetite for unhealthy food.
Since kids are also watch tv, parents have more concerns of the way there kids think about violence they see, read or hear. Also the media violence can affect people in many ways.Some people start having serious fears of them being victims in real life. However, there are researchers that say they have discovered that when they show violence on television it shows children to be not be so sensitive to pain and suffering of other people. Crime drama has become one of the most popular TV genres in our society, taking up almost 20% of prime time. People like these dramas because they deal with themes and issues that they know from news and current events.Also important as the themes and issues that the dramas deal with are the things the characters care about and the way they act.

Student with lower IQ scores also tend to watch more TV and be more violent, as do person from poorer families. By involving television in education, it is becoming detrimental to the mind of the youth due to the fact that schools are taking something that is solely made to entertain and placing it into an educational setting. In chapter 10 of Neil Postman’s book, Amusing Ourselves to Death, Postman reviews examines the three supposed commandments that shape and make up television educational standards. The first principle of television education is to have no prerequisites. In other words, television’s goal is to eliminate the concept of consistency and order in education. Unlike the classroom, television allows for individuals to watch any show, in any point in time, without giving any warning that they may not understand the background story of the program.
Kids are bombarded with ads that encourage them to eat unhealthy foods such as potato chips and soft drinks. Children watching an average of 4 hours of TV a day can lead to a lack of physical activity that then leads to obesity. Studies have shown that decreasing the amount of TV that kids watched, led to less weight gain and a lower body mass index. In conclusion, children who watch too much TV have a risk of becoming obese. TV shows violent behavior that may lead to an increased risk of children emulating that same behavior.
