PRK has some disadvantages after surgery which includes, postoperative pain and a slow recovery rate. With PRK, the laser flattens the cornea.5 Recently LASIK was preferred over PRK due to its many advantages, which include fast visual rehabilitation, low postoperative discomfort, as well as a lack of corneal haze. LASIK is an acronym for laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis. It is laser eye surgery that is used to treat myopia, hyperopia as well as astigmatism. This procedure results in reshaping of the cornea to allow light to enter the eye and focus on the retina to provide clear vision.
