Also if they are able to become more independent, they are more likely to become more confident, which means they may be able to do more things for themselves, therefore making them more independent, which therefore benefits the individual as they are in a positive atmosphere. Another reason why living at home can benefit an individual is that they may have more time spent with loved ones and are more likely to get visits from friends and family. This is important as it keeps that sense of ‘normality’. If the individual was in a care/residential home, they may not get as many visitors as the family/friends may feel uncomfortable in that environment or the family/ friends may be busy during the visiting hours. Another factor is that the individual is able to maintain a little more control over daily routine, which is important as this leaves the individual feeling cared for and listened to.
Permissive parents have children who, in many ways, share the undesirable characteristics of children of authoritarian parents. Children with permissive parents tend to be dependent and moody, and they are low in social skills and self-control (Feldman, 2014). Healthy Family System A healthy family system can be noticed by its living arrangement. The way a family live such as the size of the family can determine a good healthy family system Real life experiences and upon observation of my own, parents with one or two kids are able to give more attention to their children than parents with several children. Children who grow up in a household with just one or two children tend to thrive more in society and not be withdrawn oppose to children who grow up in a household with several children tend to have a lack of attention.
O'Roark provides more detail, saying that to few children can hurt the economy of the family, while to many can drain it . Clearly he recognizes children's economic advantage. This economic contribution of children was also very valued in the Classical period . Shaw points out the other valuable role of the child was to care for the parents in old age. This is the idea that children would be the ones who helped aging parents, and eventually buried them .
For this reason Quindlen wrote, the lives of children who do not have enough downtime for family talks will miss this beneficial asset for families (151). Another benefit of proper downtime is more time for family bonding moments. Quindlen stated that in some parts of America families are scheduling downtime to benefit their children and create family bonding moments (152). Children benefit greatly when they have the proper amount of downtime for family talks and bonding moments. Having the time to experience the joys of childhood is another beneficial element of proper downtime.
There is also the family/friend daycare option available to some families. This can be a benefit if a parent’s work schedule includes late days, overnights, or weekends, and also is very cost-effective. In those relatively rare instances in which centers can accommodate variable schedules, the cost is high, particularly for infants and toddlers (Oliveira, 2007). Another consideration for parents is whether to use a daycare that focuses on specific ages, or one that can
This, in turn, was a learning experience for me. My experiences prepared me for my mother’s terminal situation where my family did not have that base of knowledge and experience to draw from. It has made me much more empathetic to those who don’t have my level of experience to understand what is happening with their loved one. There are many times when I disagree with a course of action a family chooses for their loved one but, I have learned to accept their choices as the right choice for that family. A family who has to make any choice, whether it be palliative or “full steam ahead”, in the presence of a terminal situation for their loved one, is brave.
How to deal with parent-child separation issues Natalia Z. Nunes Belmont University From the most ancient times until now, family has been one of the most valuable belongings a person has, if not the most treasured. People like to be around family because they love each other, but this does not mean that there are not conflicts and issues within families. I am a good observer: I like to watch people’s behaviors and attitudes and then try to formulate some sort of conclusions. I enjoy thinking about family issues, and therefore I’ve chosen to write about the issue of separation in a family. Families face separations of many kinds.
Encouraging senior communities can be beneficial to not only the senior but the seniors loved ones as well. Senior living communities can provide peace of mind to relatives concerned about the senior’s well-being. Senior Living Communities are places where the aging population can live to make life easier and more fulfilling. As a person ages their needs and abilities may change in a way that they require more assistance than was needed in earlier life. Reasons that a senior citizen may be encouraged to live in a senior specific community can vary from cost efficiency to medical necessity.
The loss of human potential is incalculable. With family support, most of these children can function successfully. Many will have some lasting damage- learning challenges, emotional problems- but with the help of patient, campassionate parents they can learn and succeed. They have tremendous ability to be contributing members of. society Why do famous people adopt children?
Therefore, an individual with many protective factors such as optimism, multiple healthy relationships among family and friends to whom they can reach out to for help, and active involvement in the community, is more likely to be able to handle macrosystem stressors such as having no healthcare. Alternatively, an individual with many macrosystem resources, such as money and healthcare, who is pessimistic and has few interpersonal resources for support, may be at risk for a poor coping outcome. I found the association of protective processes with the concept of resilience to be very meaningful, particularly as it relates to psychologists trained to search for the individual’s deficits. A person’s ability to cope and adapt successfully in the face of adversity is a common characteristic strength that often goes unaddressed in many areas of psychology. Resilience is perhaps one of the most important protective factors involved in one’s ability to cope.
