Dear Admissions Committee Members, I am writing to inform you of my current responsibilities and assignments, career accomplishments, professional and personal goals and finally my motivation for applying to School's Executive MBA. In my current position as a Controller, my primary responsibility is to manage all of the accounting aspects of a real estate portfolio valued in excess of $400 million. Including: day-to-day operational accounting, cash management, production of quarterly and annual financial reporting in accordance with both IFRS and Canadian GAAP and financial analysis for potential and ongoing property developments. Being a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) with over eight years of industry experience, I have gained expertise in the review, development and improvement cycles of operational accounting policies and procedures that support the strategic goals of the organization. In addition, I have continuously sought ways to increase operational efficiencies and to add value to the overall accounting and financial reporting processes. As a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) with over five years of experience in the management of a diverse and broad real estate investment portfolio, my second responsibility has involved extensive industry and investment research, financial analyses and asset management functions to support the growth and goals of the organization. I am proud to be part of a team that has tripled its assets under management to approximately $1 billion in less than three years. The team has now been tasked to build upon its successes and undertake another aggressive expansion plan to grow the portfolio to over $4 billion in value by the end 2014. To accomplish this goal, the team actively seeks acquisitions within Canada and the United States that uniquely fit the established investment criteria. Operational and development
