People who lived in the area (sindh river) were known as Hindus, and that region became known as Hindustan. People spoke Sanskrit (ancient language of india)- no one speaks it now, becomes Hindustani (1600’s in Mogul). Sanksrit is the root of every other Indian language. Sanskrit is now defunct. Sanksrit only used in Hindu scripture (language of Hindu priest, used only in religions). Hindu priests (Brahmans) only people that can use Sanskrit.
