John also states that he was previously diagnosed with depression at the age 14 by his pediatrician in Seattle, but he has never received treatment or taken medications for depression. John describes feeling hopeless, exhausted, and having a general lack of interest in daily life. John was referred by St. Joseph’s hospital after being admitted by his mother. I chose to write about Case Scenario 1 because I have a son who was diagnosed with ADHD so I can relate to this scenario. When it comes to ADHD with children you really have to look at everything that your child is having trouble with and discuss what options you have to help your child. Having a child with ADHD can be tough, but if you do your research and talk to specialist you are able to get through the struggle. My son was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 5 and he’s now 9. He wasn’t having any difficulty at school so I just let him be his normal 9 year old self.
Just like Conrad’s parents in Ordinary People by Judith Guest, many are unaware of the dangers and thoughts faced by teens that could lead to suicide. It is very difficult for parents to deal with suicidal teens. When a teen attempts suicide it is a cry for help. Some parents might keep their thoughts to themselves after their teen attempted suicide. It was as if he had read my article, and it was all coming together with this one patient. Knowing the information makes me more proficient in my job, and now I know what atrial fibrillation is all about!
Addiction Simulation Exercise This exercise made me realize how hard it really is for addicts to hide their addictions. It was very hard to hide this from my friends since I hang out with them the most. I felt scared that they would think of me differently and judge me, if they knew i was an addict. At first it didnt bother me if i didnt have it, but as the time went on, i felt like i had to have it with every dring because other wise it didnt tast the same. I felt like i couldnt enjoy the drinks the same way withought the ice cubes.

This is a topic that will continue to be a growing problem. We need to remember though, we can do something about it, and we can help prevent it.
