Actions speak louder than words This commonly met proverb states the indisputable fact that words which aren’t supported by actions are useless. However, many people are not able to distinguish between words and actions and think that they do something only by talking, as if doing and talking are the same thing. Unfortunately, this is not so, because words need proof. To begin with, words are created so that we could communicate with each other by expressing our thought, emotions and feelings. Words are only the means of communication, they can describe and give verbalise what we want to share with others. They are inert, they’re just symbols, they’re dead. That is why saying that you’ll do something doesn’t mean that you’re actually doing it because talking is the easy part while acting is hard. For instance, a friend of mine always used to talk about things that he’ll do and the words “I promise” just couldn’t get out of his mouth. However, as the time went by, it became clear, that these words meant nothing, they were said in vain. It was as if by saying that he’ll do something, my friend was simply trying to convince himself and me that promises will be kept, although we both knew that he was not a person of the action. I soon became frustrated and wasn’t even trying to believe these words because I was convinced that no action would follow them. Most of the people believe the things that they see and not the ones they hear. That is the reason why, when you here just promises and don’t see them turn into action, you stop relying on the person who made the promises and don’t ask him favours anymore, because you know that he won’t able to help you, you give up believing in him. On the other hand, when one really makes something to support his/her words or simply acts without saying anything, then you can trust him, you know that you can depend on him and that
