Jemison -- the first African-American woman to enter space and founded The Jemison Group, Inc., which developed ALAFIYA, a satellite-based telecommunications systems intended to improve health care delivery in developing nations. 3. Rebecca Cole -- the second black woman to graduate from medical school (1867). 4. Madam C. J. Walker (1867–1919) invented a hair-growing lotion. 5. Jan Ernst Matzeliger (1852–1889) invented a shoemaking machine that increased shoemaking speed by 900%. 6. Alice Parker -- invented a new and improved gas heating furnace that provided central heating. 7. Ruth J Miro -- the founder of RJ Miro, and the inventor of personalized paper rings. 8. Maretta L. Johnson -- It is the first diaper bag with a built-in bottle warmer (battery powered & car adapter), storage cooler, garment bag conversion, back pack conversion and plastic storage pouch for soiled items.
