Accounting To obtain a degree in Accounting you will need to obtain a Bachelors Degree, which would require four years of college. You can continue on to obtain a Masters Degree in Accounting if you desire for two more years of college. Unfortunately there is no Associates Degree in Accounting. On the job training is available at almost any job you take in Accounting. Initially your pay will be lower while you are training. Your training period can last for two weeks to six months or more depending on employer. Once you have successfully completed your training period your pay will increase to your agreed upon amount. The day to day duties are as follows: * Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards. * Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting and other tax requirements. * Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs. * Establish tables of accounts, and assign entries to proper accounts. * Report to management regarding the finances of establishment. * Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations, to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice. The technology that I will be using in accounting the are most definitely computers. Most of databases are on the computer. Also on the computer are Accounting programs that most Accounting firms use. I will also you telephones and fax machines. Accounting jobs are available in every type of business from grocery stores to manufacturing companies. You can work for private accounting firms or in a business like a hospital or trailer factory.
