Academy Awards and Golden Globes Probably the two most confused awards shows in the entertainment industry are the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards. They both happen every year at almost the same time. They seem similar and often we, the audience are able to see the same nominees and even winners. Both of them are where the fans can see their favorite actresses in couture dresses on the red carpet and they are willing to spend a lot of money on them so that they can look gorgeous in these huge events . Often people have mistaken these two because of their similarities, but they each have definitive differences to set them apart. Both the Academy Awards and the Golden Globe awards have been existing for decades and both of them may be the best known awards in the entertainment industry. The Academy Awards, informally known as The Oscars, are a set of awards given annually for excellence of cinematic achievements. The Oscar statuette is officially named the Academy Award of Merit and is one of nine types of Academy Awards. The first Academy Awards ceremony was held on May 16, 1929. The Hotel Roosevelt located in the Hollywood was the venue that had held the ceremony. Different than the Academy Awards, the Golden Globe Award is an accolade recognizing excellence not only in film, but also in television, both domestic and foreign. The annual formal ceremony and dinner at which the awards are presented is a major part of the film industry's awards season. The first Golden Globe Awards ceremony was held in January in the year 1944 . The 20th Century Fox studios located in the Los Angeles California had hosted the ceremony.
