The children were told many lies about their families such as their parents were lazy and criminals. This affected the way other people saw these misunderstood First Nations. Some of the children that were forced to go to Residential Schools might have grown up to have the wrong idea about people and may start to abuse alcohol and drugs. This could lead to difficulty finding and keeping jobs. That means no source of income.
They always cheat in the exams. It makes them face a lot of issues. First, although they pass the test and grade but they will be lacking of knowledge. Second , they will be dependent on others. Moreover, if they are caught when they are cheating they will be expelled.
It is clear that the child’s mental, physical and psychological needs are not being met in his home environment. The traditional parental role is one of caregiver, role-model, and nurturer. When the father is absent from the home this causes a schism within the home that, if not filled properly, can contribute to the delinquency of a child. The child usually begins exhibiting behaviors such as lying, stealing, misbehaving in school, and fighting. If not checked these behaviors accelerate into anti-social behavior directed towards other children and the community.
Waiting for the Superior Hero In the film, they revealed how bad teachers are often transferred from one school to another. This can be seen as a rotation cycle which is not turning out well for the public school system as well for the students. The reason being why a school lets a teacher go is because they discover that they are not doing their job efficiently which leads students to not learning. When students do not learn at least the basics of education, then they do not meet the state standards and cannot enter the next grade level. With this in mind, administrators are stuck trying to figure out what in the world are they doing wrong.
This quote shows that the bullies are more concentrated on bullying their victims rather than their school work. This quote also shows that bullies are not very concentrated in school and will probably fail in school and not get a good career. Another example that shows that students are beginning not to care about school is, “Many of the victims are disengaged in school” (Wolpert 1). This evidence is important because the victims are scared of bullies and are really not concentrating in school like before they began to be bullied. Multiple victims who are hurt from being bullied are starting to fail in school.
They stress day and night over these overrated tests, like previously stated channeling out the imagination, curiosity and good will. Besides being an imprecise measure for students, they use them to judge a teacher’s performance as well, essentially used to either reward or punish them. Standardized test are not helping us very much right now. In conclusion, the usage of standardized tests should be discontinued or by the very least lessened. These tests are not helping people, it’s initially having a negative effect on students and teachers.
When a student is not trying to do well in a subject, or in school altogether, there is nothing anyone around them can do to change that; it must be the student’s desire and decision to turn things around, and do the best they can. There are some cases when teachers willing allow a student to fail a class. The teacher chooses not to follow-up with the student, to ensure they understand the material and attain the grades necessary to pass the class. The majority of the students who are falling behind will not even talk to the teacher about their problem. This can be a result of laziness or even shame.
The Duvitch kids didn’t spend time on the play ground, not because they weren’t allowed to stay there after school but because they felt uncomfortable and as if they couldn’t enjoy themselves doing so. For the Duvitch kids to not feel comfortable to do a simple fun activity that all children should have the right to do, goes to show that the teachers and parents in this short story are condoning the other children to not let the Duvitch family feel
If you are not from a certain class then your opinions do not matter and will not be heard. As silly as this may sound I have even seen cases where it is “who you know and who you don’t” that make a difference. These cases may seem petty and little but they hinder our communication process greatly and cause many problems in our workforce. In return from the problems this is causing it is also giving our local system a bad name and our parents are hearing these rumors and issues and deciding to take their children out of our systems and taking them to other schools causing our program to lose funding by the
The parents usually do not socialize with other parents because they usually receive negative comments towards their child. Parents who anti-socialize usually channel that aggression to their spouse which results in violent arguments. Schools as well as teachers are also responsible on placing kids with ADHD in an environment where they can perform their best. This is not to segregate the children but to place them in an environment where they can learn their best. Also, if the child does not perform at his/her best, it greatly reduces the self-esteem not only of the child but the parents as well.
