What if the people who was supposed to protect you from danger were the ones who put you in it? What if 9/11, one of the most tragic days in America’s history, was caused by our own government? What if this was an inside job? Could our government have masterminded this horrific crime? Actually, I believe they did, I personally believe that the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and the crashing of Flight 93 does not accurately add up to it’s ashes.
According to International Trafficking (2010), victims of human trafficking are traded inside of their own country's border as well as inside of the border of another country. Drug trafficking is another big issue, particularly around the United States borders. According to the New World Encyclopedia (2009), drug trades is a production of the black market. In some parts of the world, trading drugs is not enforced among all people. There is a large profit that can result from drug trafficking, which could be one of the reasons behind the crime not always being viewed under a zero tolerance policy.
Cloward and Ohlin argue, that the majority of criminals involved in the drugs trade were unable to succeed within capitalism and were driven to an illegitimate means of obtaining wealth. Cloward and Ohlin further argued that as people were driven into this illegitimate structure they tended to join existing deviant subcultures i.e. the drug subculture as in the case of the drugs trade. The theory does well to explain many crimes of the working class as they are unable to succeed in a society driven by middle class values, however Cloward and Ohlin’s subcultural theory fails to explain the crimes of the powerful whom already have achieved economic wealth through legitimate means. These can be cases involving the government that affect our society. A good example of this type of victimization is when “an elected official takes pleasure trips and write them off as business expenses”, this elected official is cheating the public (J., R. 2006). Mutual victimization is when two people are engage and the crime has multiple perpetrators, one criminal victimizes the other. An example of this type of victimization could be members of a gang turning on one another and one turns up dead. The final category mentioned in the text is called no victimization, which occurs when it is difficult to determine if a person has been victimized while being in a compromised situation.
