Although the act was usually but not always the choice of the woman, abortion was illegal and to end pregnancy was considered to be murder. In the two decades before abortion was legal in America, it's been estimated that about one million women per year underwent illegal abortions. Because these illegal procedures were performed by the woman or someone else who was not medically trained to perform the procedure, women died. In my opinion trying to make abortion illegal is pointless because the women will resort to drastic measures and other means to end the unwanted birth. Here we are in this so-called world of freedom but when we exercise that freedom, we become ridiculed for making a choice.
Having an abortion is killing an innocent person for insignificant reasons. If other people get killed or put into jail for killing other people then why, shouldn’t women who choose to abort their pregnancies? It is the same thing. Whether or not the baby is wanted, all people who kill any human being in any way need to be punished. If the mother and or father wasn’t allowed or didn’t want a child in the first place then as a couple they should have decided to be abstinent until they were ready to take on the responsibilities of having and taking care of a
One of the most controversial topic that society and lawmakers often debate about is abortion. Before 1971 when abortion was illegal it was done in the back alleys of city streets with an inexperienced person doing this procedure. Thousands of women died due to improper procedure, unsterile equipment, and complications due medical malpractice. This changed in December 1971 when a single mother to be chose to fight against the anti-abortion law in the state of Texas. At the time the state of Texas only allowed legal abortions to women that had been raped or was impregnated by incest.
Constitutionality of Pre-Abortion Procedures Few words can carry out the shivers and shakes that the word “abortion” can. It means to stop, to terminate. With this word comes judgment regardless of the situation. In the conservative political realm, it translates to murder. Abortions are performed for many reasons, varying from rape and incest to teenage and fatalistic pregnancies.
All women feel differently after an abortion. Some women may feel regret, others may feel relief, some may be happy, and others may be confused on how they feel. The way a person feels about the abortion is based on how they feel about the child growing inside of them. Some of the common emotional side effects are suicide, alcohol and drug abuse, eating disorders, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and neglect(“Abortion Risks: a list of major psychological complications related to abortion,” par 4). All of these are very serious side effects that can happen to anyone.
One of the most ethical controversial issues being debated now in United States is whether late- term abortion should be banned or not. Most people argued that it is proper to ban late-term abortion. They believe that it is un-ethical and a murder of an unborn child not a right of freedom of choice. It is an immoral act and violates the social and religious norms. On the other hand some people argued that late-term abortion should not be banned because it is necessary to terminate a fetus when the life of the woman is in danger as a result of complicated pregnancy; or when pregnancy result from incest or rape and the woman may be late in finding out that she is pregnant.
But on the contrary, a life has been formed at conception and the consequences of sexual activity are well known. Once this human has been formed abortion is a direct violation of their human rights. Abortion is murderous and unnecessary. Since the formation of a human begins almost instantaneously, there is no way to have an abortion without killing a life form. It directly opposes human rights.
These are all reason that could be avoided, and save many lives in the early stages. One controversial reason a woman might have an abortion is if she has been raped. There are very few cases like this, and in the instance of pregnancy resulting from rape, Linda Lowen informs us “proper medical care can ensure that a woman will not get pregnant” (Abortion Arguments). Overall, the most common reason for having an abortion is that “over 95 percent… [are] women who simply do not want to have a baby” (Abortion is Murder). Women who get pregnant and are not ready to accept the responsibility should not let this result in the death of a human
My World View Abortion is a topic that has been debated for centuries. Many people believe that it is a woman’s prerogative to terminate her pregnancy. These people also say that it is a violation of her rights to take that option away. Others argue that a fetus is a defenseless being that deserves a chance to live. Attacking an individual who has no means to defend them self is wrong, which is why I strongly oppose abortion.
Abortion Killing an unborn child is a very unnecessary decision; under certain circumstances it is allowed. The unborn child did not ask to be here just for you to not give the unborn child a chance. If you were raped then abortion should be an option. For example, say you are 16 and you have an 18 year old boyfriend and you end up pregnant. You did that to yourself, you deserve that.
