The recession in America has caused a repositioning in government funding in recent years. Most states have been in a drastic budget crisis. One of the repositions in America includes abandoning Education for expanding incarceration. With crime on the rise more funding is needed for incarcerations and it cut into education funding. The two images below are both American government funded institutions, where change, and self-improvement can be learned. Only one picture continues to take funding that will affect America's future.

Education is needed to be successful today in America and it helps achieve the American dream.
It is essential and without it can lead to a dead end job, welfare, poverty, and even a life of crime that

facing budgetary shortfalls and as a result” schools are closing, teachers are laid off, classes are overly
crowded. (Muhammad, M 2011) Pubic higher education has more than double within the last 10 years. Higher tuition makes it difficult for the average American citizen to afford higher education and lead to fewer graduates.

In America some of the poorest areas faced school closings. Detroit, Michigan is one of
the cities where half of the public schools were closed in year 2011 due to budget cuts and “as a result, high school class sizes will jump to sixty students” in the next few years. (Rooney, B 2011)
