Proverbs 24: 1-5 states, “Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them. For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief. Through wisdom is an house unbuilded; and by understanding it is established. A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.” I have learned that wisdom is a vital part of developing strength. For many years, I thought wisdom was something I would have after I raised a few children or lived at least 50 years. I focused more on being smart, thinking smart and studying smart. Life has taught me that knowledge makes me smarter but experience can make me wiser. Experience can be defined as any event or circumstance that one has lived through or observed. Experience itself does not make me wiser but extracting knowledge from the experiences and making the best use of the knowledge leads to wisdom. The knowledge that I gained in my studies has helped me to become a stronger person. My studies include academics and studying God’s Word. Being a part of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program has been a challenging experience and has taught me greatly how to be a scholarly learner and take what I know and apply it to many different situations. I have connected with people of many different backgrounds. Such exposure has helped in developing stronger interpersonal skills. My experience has not always been positive. I have dealt with every form of adversity. Trouble, trials and tribulations have helped strengthen my character. Learning how to listen is very important in using knowledge to develop wisdom. I am learning that listening for God’s voice is just like listening to the voice of my parents. For example, I remember asking my mother if I could go to a party. She looked at me without answering my question and said “Did you clean your bedroom yet?” She didn’t answer my
