------------------------------------------------- A Realistic Woman is a Happy Women ------------------------------------------------- Imagine a woman living the American dream. She and her family live in the suburbs, with a nice size house, a two-car garage, a white picketed fence and a dog. She is probably around her mid-thirties, and she has a very happy home-life and career. Her husband is just as successful, and their two high school kids are at the top of their classes. This woman knows how to juggle being a full-time mother, employee, wife, and look stunning while doing it. She has it all. Society and media have created this vision; and, many women believe it is possible. Women want happy marriages, good children, and great careers. However, they fail to realize it may be impossible to have it all. Society promotes an unrealistic standard regarding the beauty of women. Anything above or below this standard of beauty is viewed as abnormal. In addition to maintaining this unrealistic beauty, women are expected to climb the ladder of success just as fast as men do. Not to mention, she needs to find the perfect man while staying pure as a white rose. Media has created false impressions and unreasonable expectations of what women should aspire to be causing many negative issues for women. ------------------------------------------------- With the use of media, society has created an ideal, airbrushed image that women desperately feel the need to imitate causing women to starve themselves in order to lose weight, leading further into eating disorders. One of the biggest annual events viewed on televisions the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Beautiful women walk the runway in lingerie, while showing off their beautiful bodies.
