The Value and Purpose of Dreaming and Living Many times in life people find themselves searching for something out of life. Dreams can be a way of making life better. To fulfill your dreams you must have faith. You must have determination. In order for your dreams to come true you must put in work. We all have dreams. We all have a purpose for living. As human, we have the desire to live a full life and fulfill our dreams. Faith is having the ability to dream. We attain some type of faith; whether big or small. Determination is the key to the fulfillment of all dreams. In A Raisin in the Sun, Walter had determination. Even though he was selfish he wanted more for his family. He was determined to changes how they lived. Walter stated, “Sometimes it’s like I can see the future stretched out in front of me—just plain as day.”(Hansberry 1959 pg. 896)His determination sometime got him in trouble. For instance, the investment in the liquor store causes him trouble. Sometimes people let their determination take over. You should never let the hungry over ride the principle of your dreams. This may sometimes cause deferred in the importance of your dreams. In the story “Everyday Use “, Dee was so determined to live her life as a proud black women by forgetting her past. This caused Dee to actually lose herself as a black woman. Sometimes people use their determination for selfish gain. Determination can be both positive and negative but it is need to make it in life. You have to be careful not to let it become negative. Throughout life things can and will change but you have to be determined not to give up. Determination is fighting; when you are down. We all must learn how to fight when we are down. Work may be considered as finances, emotions, mental stability or even physical labor. No matter what type of work it is. You must be willing to do it in order to achieve your dreams. In order to reap the reward of your dream you have to plant a good seed. Dreams are base upon working. You can set a goal but you have to work towards it to reach it. Many people sometimes think things should be given to them easier. I feel you must work for the thing you want. Working for something helps you to appreciate it more. Often times when someone receive something freely they do not trends to care for it as much. In the story, “Everyday Use”, Dee was practically had everything give to her by her mother.
