"A Raisin in the Sun" by Lorraine Hansberry is about living the "American Dream". Hansberry wrote this story in the year 1959. The "American Dream" that she described and the one that currently exists today are very different. In 1959, the dream if most American’s was to work hard and to live a comfortable life. American’s believed that you would live a good life as long as you had your family and had food on the table. As for now, Let’s fast forward to the year 2003. The "American Dream" is to have two or more cars, a beautiful house with a pool, a job that involves working 40 hours or more, and plently of other "stuff". “Stuff” can be described as material possessions such as Eletronics, Jewelry, clothes, including but not limited to luxury items. When did the dream of living a happy lifestyle go to having tons of material possessions? A modern "American Dream" is strongly set into the minds of society. It will be difficult to go back the other way. Unfortunately, changes will not happen suddenly. They are only able to happen slowly, and over the the course of a long period of time. Changes from the current dream ans Hansberry’s dream took many years to change. The Law of the Few plays a huge role in changing the dream. To make the dream go in a better direction, people that are influential in society are In need to adopt this dream as their own. For someone as successful as Bill Gates decided that he wanted to become more laid back, it would make a great deal for others to be attracted to do the same as him. In my point of view, if I adopted to that dream, no one would care about it. Bill Gates is considered to be a connector in our own society. He has done a lot to improve the technology we use today. For that reason, is why he will be more likely to cause a "social epidemic" than I would. The second factor that would have to be dealt with in changing
