I believe Mrs. Williams left an impact on every child who was blessed enough to have her. When compared to a few other teachers I have had, there is a very practical reason why Mrs. Williams sticks out. Her thoughtfulness and cheeriness top the charts. Mrs. Williams has influenced me so greatly that I have decided to become an English teacher. I only hope to be half as great as her.
I believe that she does feel bad that her children, who once really loved their father, have become bitter towards him now. She feels that she knows he painful it is to hate someone you still love, and wishes that even though, Jody D. was bad for her, that he could at least be good for them. She tends to compare her father and her ex-husband frequently. In addition to them being close, she feels that they both are “no-good daddies”. Another observation was when a fellow co-worker asked another, about T. Smith and stated that she would like to get to know her better.

He didn’t do anything wrong, yet his mom left him. I couldn’t help but imagine how I would feel if I were in his place. The glass castle by Jeannette Walls is a story of a dysfunctional family which does not conform to the norm of society. And through this their children suffer due to their unconventional methods “Mom and Dad liked to make a big point about never surrendering to fear or to prejudice or to the narrow-minded conformist sticks-in-the-mud who tried to tell everyone else what was proper" Jeannetee's parents always thought the "normal" was an unacceptable way to live. They stressed this idea and it applies to their lives throughout the entire book. The adult used this idea as an excuse for whenever they did not have a home or food to eat. But it is through this that we can the maturity and desire the children show to rise above from their problems.
During the trip, the father realizes that there is a lot of hostility between the kids. The brother keeps nagging on his sister, trying to scare her. When the father sees this, he says that people think they are safe but they really are just thinking that they are invisible because their eyes are closed (Hempel 1203). The family was safe together until the separation. The father was thinking that everything was fine between the kids, but when he got them together he saw how sarcastic they were to each other.
This quote caught my attention because as a child who grew up with an absent father, I felt this essay really got to the heart of the problem that many children faces now a day. I was lucky in knowing my father's decision not to have anything to do with me growing up was because he resented paying support. I wish I could believe parents left for altruistic reasons, but I think those are just excuses. If they really feared screwing up their kids they could take classes, they could learn to be parents, take anger management classes. Simply, they cannot be arsed to bother.
