A life review interview with Lena Mae Austin Thompson. For my interview, I decided to interview Mrs. Thompson. She’s an energetic 76 year old, as sexy in her seventies as she was in her twenties, her mind is fresh with all of life experiences. Her speech is as proper as a English teacher, her emotion is stable. She currently resides in Madison Alabama with her husband of 55 years Roosevelt Thompson. They are proud parents of four children Kelvin, Ivan, Karen and Glenn who all reside in different States. Georgia (Kelvin), Louisinia ( Ivan), Alabama ( Karen), Washington D.C. (Glenn). She also remember the announcement on television about the death of Dr. King in1968, the telephone ringing while the news was been reported and it was her sister calling to say turn the T.V on Dr. king is dead, they killed him as she fell to the floor. At age 40 she Lena completed college and received her masters degree in education and taught seventh grade math and health. The children left home some went to college and the military, got married, had children, bought homes ECT. At age 50 Lena found out she had a brain tumor and had to be hospitalized and had brain surgery. For a year after surgery she suffered from an speech impairment and had to learn how to speak again. She also remembers watching the wedding of Charles and princess Diana. At age 60 Lena finally retired from the broad of Education, traveled extensively throughout the U.S. she’s lived to see her grandchildren graduate from college. She’s still waiting to become a great grandmother. At age 70 She’s still retired , She works occasionally for the board of voters registry and she’s just enjoying life as the wife for the past 55 years, the first lady of first Baptist Church for thirty years. She remembers working the poles and having the opportunity to vote for our first African American
