The lie might turn a good friendship into a hateful friendship, because you have lied about what happened and kept the person from knowing the truth. Whenever you tell a harmless lie instead of the hurtful truth, you are taking a chance of the person finding out that you were not honest with them and that would make them hate you even more, because your harmless lie can put that person in a situation that the hurtful truth could have prevented them from being in, so in the end of all the lying, the person might not want to be friends with you anymore, because the person has lost trust in you and doesn’t feel that they can trust you again.
