One of the main topics about this story would be that Peyton Farquhar was told to blow up the owl creek bridge, as an act of will power, and communism. The person that told him to blow the bridge up was a spy, and ended up getting caught, and was to be hanged off the side of the bridge. During this whole process he goes back in time seeing events of his life making him regret his actions, and decisions. When he gets hanged of the bridge he immediately dies, but thinks he escaped reality. Knowingly he didn’t escape.
Antony was the person who instigated the war. If they had killed him, he would not have had the chance to turn the people against the conspirators. Another mistake Brutus made, was that he allowed Antony to speak in Caesar's funeral. When the conspirators were discussing it, Cassius thought it to be a bad idea, but Brutus, as naive and trusting as he is, said yes, but only as long as Antony let him speak first and promised not to say anything bad about them. When they left, Antony, in his soliloquy, spoke of revenge.
Supposedly Dean blackmailed him first. But Dean never intended to kill him. Martyn took things way too far. Martyn had the right plan/idea to use against dean and to fraud him for his dad’s death. Finally, he lies to Alex, copes, social worker, Dean, and Aunty Jean.
Pope Urban II lied and said that Christ demands that the Holy Land be freed from the Muslims to gain support from others, and Pope Urban II also lied when he said that the sins f those who went to fight would be washed away. Factors for the Invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan It was viewed as a war against terror according to George Bush and the United Nations; it was also a war against Saddam Hussein and his weapons of mass destruction. It was a war to liberate Iraq from Saddam Hussein’s regime of men and Al-Qaeda; it also was a war to free the Afghanistan people and government from the Taliban. Motives for the Crusades The only motive for the early crusades was to gain control of the Holy Land and to try and purify the Christian religion. As strange as it may sound a lot of the soldiers who went to war with the Muslims just wanted to kill people because it gave them a thrill and had no interest what so ever in the Holy Land.
Later, as an adult, he created an audacious plan to gather many slaves and give them weapons to start a series of revolts. His plan backfired when slaves refused to revolt. I’m sure that they feared the repercussions of the plan failing and being punished or even feared dying as a result of the revolt. Because he felt so strongly, Brown went through with his plan, but ultimately, was captured and executed with charges of treason and murder. His plan did not work out as he had anticipated; however, the news of this event did stir the nation.
Dropping a bomb is bad, but at the same time he was the president and he was going to do what he thought was right. The fact that he dropped a bomb on Nagasaki means that he is down to business and he means exactly what he says. After the President bombed Nagasaki, he says: [ii]“ Having found the bomb, we have used it . . .young Americans.” President Truman did these bombings because he was not thinking about himself, but he was thinking about others.
All the irony in the tale alludes to the idea of an insane narrator. The writer also provides a number of instances where symbolism is used to emphasize the theme. The heart in the first place symbolizes the narrator’s strong guilt of the crimes he committed. He seemed to hear the heart of the old man beat after he had murdered him beat. This was because of the guilt of murdering the man and the fear of being caught.
The betrayal of Polynieces causes his sister, Antigone, to start another long line of betrayal throughout the rest of the play. Antigone begins planning her betrayal against Creon and her justice against her brother when she goes to her sister, Ismene, for help. “You must decide whether you will help me or not.” (Line 30, Pg 774). Ismene is a coward and claims she cannot help Antigone, “But I have no strength to break laws that were made for the public good.” (Line 66, Pg 774). The fact that Antigone is now alone is this process does not slow her down at all; not even after Ismene warns her that the consequence of her actions could be death.
During this time period women aren’t allowed to express their thoughts and are taught to keep them to themselves. Jane would try and write to express her individuality, but her husband scorns her for doing so. He tells her, “that with [her] imaginative power and habit of story-making, a nervous weakness like [hers] is sure to lead to all manner of excited fancies, and that [she] ought to use [her] will and good sense to check the tendency”(1686). Even though John tells her not to write, she “know[s] John would think it absurd. But [she] must say what [she] feel[s] and think in some way” (1689).
Othello was not a guillable man but he was a believer in anyone. But Desdemona had the bad end of it all because she got blamed for being disloyal to her husband. Iago was a selfish man but more importantly he was a cold hearted man that wanted everyone to feel the same way as he did. Iago had a jealous heart as well and couldn't stand the fact that love was in the air. In Othello, both themes of jealousy and hate were amoungst the main characters and developed new accuasations throughout the play.
