Jarred Clifton October 02, 2012 Literature 4th Period: Mrs. Elders A Dead Man’s Map Approach Paper A Dead Man’s Map by M. Peschke is the story of a child name Josh he visits with his cousins, Cody, Brian, and Uncle Paul in Texas. While he is there they go to a yard sale and he finds a basket with a hat inside. Josh bought the hat and the basket. After wiping the dust from the hat, he placed it on his head and it felt strange. The strange feeling was a map inside the hat. Josh realizes later that he has the map to a hidden treasure. Researching the map Josh and his cousin’s find the map to be authentic. After discovering the authenticating of the map, he noticed a rusty truck following them. Josh turns into an alley and jumps out. The man in the rusty truck jumped out also, he was the man that Josh had purchased the hat from. Josh asked him, where does the map lead to? And he said, to an Indian Chief’s gravesite. They go to a park and look for caves, Josh felt dajavo. He begins running and falls through the ground and looks up to see the skeleton of the Indian Chief, horse and dog. Josh broke both legs falling through the ground. Josh was rescued by his cousins, and the man in the rusty truck. Josh: determined, brave, perseverance, courageous Cody: mean, demanding, rude, disrespectful Bryan: helpful, kind, strong willed, nice Man in rusty truck: strange, weird, suspicious 1.
