Carver is lacking in interpersonal effectiveness. He needs to address his ability to communicate and build interpersonal relationships. He needs to build a rapport with his employees to be successful. A successful leader “can help people contain and recover from their emotional stressors on the job” (Newman, Guy & Mastracci, 2007, p. 13). Carver was actually the stressor in many situations.
If he lets himself get out of control so much that he hates someone, then his inner self and soul breaks down or degrades. This means that overall everyone’s opinion does matter and mean a lot, but how you approach it is what matters most. Quote 2: Success is not really success if you haven’t succeeded past any obstacles to get to that sussessful life. “I have learned that success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome while trying to succeed.” Booker T. Washington was telling his readers how he felt through the voice of this quote. This says to me a lot to myself and teach me a lesson.
I think refining is the most appropriate response in this scenario. The vision and mission have already been established for Listo sytsem. However, the lack of employee training due to the rapid growth of the company and high turnover rate has resulted in low production and poor quality. Refining the company by using the ACHIEVE model to motivate employees is one of the theories that can be used to help the Vision to Performance. He doesn’t think that his staff is offering and contributing to their job as much as he does. As a brand manager of a group whose job is heavily involved with creativity, flexibility and thinking out of box, Simon’s management has created a punitive and mistrust atmosphere that prevents his staff from sharing their points of view and challenging new ideas just like Simon did when he was an assistant. Also, this downfall of his management style will eventually lead to lower job satisfaction rate of his staff. The pro of his style is that he catches the flaws at early stage, which is also a very valuable skill and can save company time and money. Simon’s personality type is a combination of Obsessive-Compulsive and Narcissistic Personality.
In order to more effectively contribute to the organization, I would like to spend some time researching techniques to connect on an emotional level with the team. The fact that they retain such a lack of empathy in their business life is confusing to me as they are largely family men. Having not observed their familial relationships myself, I can only surmise that they interact without empathy in their personal
For example; operations such as drug raids are planned democratically beforehand, but when the plan is put into practice or action the leader will be authoritarian as there is no time for discussion. Authoritarian leaders maintain order and discipline, making this style effective. The style also makes decision making and arrangement quick and efficient, and helps large scale co-ordination. The down side to using this leadership type is that the team don’t develop initiative and less responsibility for their actions as they rely on the leader. There is usually a low staff morale, meaning poor performance and high staff turnover.

Tim Scott also has high job satisfaction, but tends to act first and think later. It would be beneficial to have him take the What Time of Day am I Most Productive survey to see if his poor decision making is based on his ability to focus.
Gary was pushed into forging data by his boss and then himself forged data to save his nose in order to meet the technical scope of the project. He lost track of the project’s progress because he had hard time balancing his administrative duties and his technical duties. Due to his lack of communication with his team, Gary wasted time and money in order to meet the milestones. He also could have negotiated a more beneficial contract. Gary had communication, administrative, human resource and leadership problems that, in the end, cost him his position as a project manager.
I have a really hard time doing things because I have always been told I am not good enough and I can not do anything right. My definition of a master student is being able to use your skills to your advantage in life and to become a better person. Just doing the job without thoughts of failing. Master students become part of the job. They do not think about it.
