Truly, it is a horrible story with gore and cannibalism but very similar to the story with animals. The only difference is that people played the role of the animals of the first story. The men more readily find the second story plausible, but do not want to believe it because it contains people eating people, gore, and violence different than that of the first story. Humans are favored and valued over the animals. Once Pi finishes telling his story to the insurance men, he asks them “which is the better story, the story with the animals or the story without the animals” (344).
I decided to view and analyze a commercial about something that is very near and dear to my heart. I am a strong believer in that there should be more strong and firm animal protection laws. All animals have feelings and are capable of feeling fear and worry. Most specifically the most common domestic pets- cats and dogs. Do not get me wrong; surely I do believe every animal should have protection laws, but I am strongly astounded by the fact that even our cats and dogs are not given the justice they need.
When a person is unsure on whether or not that they will live to see their next birthday, the last thing that they are worried about is if the treatments that they are taking, that is fighting a war inside their body, was tested on the animals in a humane way. Animal testing is a benefit to society. It has saved countless lives with the how much it has contributed to medical research and has ensured the general public’s safety with how it has played a major role in the rules and regulations of food, drugs and cosmetics. The abolishment of animal testing would mean that researchers would not be able to find drugs and treatments for medical purposes. Animal research has played a pivotal role in virtually every major medical advancement for both human and animal health in the last century.
There was very little ventilation, almost no windows to let light in, only two big fans to ventilate the house, and the chickens could barely move due to the lack of available space because so many where crammed in there. I will never forget the farmer telling the camera that is not unusual for the chicken to not be able to walk more than a couple of feet, because their muscles cannot support the weight of their upper bodies due to the fact that they have growth hormones in their feed so they would develop faster. Unfortunately with the costs of having and operating a farm, farmers like the one interviewed and many others, no matter how much they disagree with the methods they cannot stop receiving financial support from the big name companies like Tyson in order to survive and make a
Insofar as I can make-out, people are uncomfortable to know how animals die and to assume such a responsibility. When I've showed people videos of --seemingly credible-- factory farm footage they either react in two different ways: (1) either they quiver-away or plea me to turn it off (2) or they uncomfortably scoff at how ridiculously cynical it all is. Albeit, appalled, this doesn't generally discourage people to stop eating meat altogether. They simply look past it when they go-off and buy animal-based products. The fact of the matter is that the animal products we buy are the source of considerable pain and cruelty.
The morality of humane treatment or imposing the parameters of human rights as a moral imperative where animals are concerned should be based upon the idea that as an enlightened human being, animals should be treated with dignity. That animals do not deserve humane treatment because they cannot reciprocate is not a rational idea. Neither is the argument that because they cannot be taught relevant. It is not about the creature who is being treated in a certain way as much as the morality involved in using power over other creatures to deny their
“Chickens range free” is an article about an incident where by hundreds of chickens were released from a delivery truck. The chickens were destined for the chopping block, but according to witnesses, two men evacuated the scene after ‘rescuing’ the animals. In response to this event, a talkback radio show took up the issue. The radio presenter, undoubtedly not amused nor content with what coincided that night, expressed his or her own opinion. From the outset, the presenter sees those responsible for the releasing the chickens as hooligans and strongly despises their actions.

In the article he says “many of our fellow creatures are more like us than we had ever imagined,” to show his argument. Rifkin makes many points about how animals should be treated humanely in his article and these arguments are, for the most part, very reasonable. I agree, to an extent, with Jeremy Rifkin and his arguments. In the article, Jeremy Rifkin shows that it would be illogical to disagree that animals have human-like qualities through studies.
In contrast, animal welfare takes the position that it is morally acceptable for humans to use non-human animals, provided that the testing minimizes animal use and suffering. The debate between those who support animal research and those who don’t is often portrayed in such a way that one group appears to care about animals while the other group doesn’t. This isn’t the case at all. Fundamentally, the issue is about how to reduce the total suffering for both humans and animals and it can be done by raising concern over

If more people came up and adopted the dogs, fewer animals would be eliminated or tortured by those who adopt them for weird reasons. The other reason why one should adopt a dog is that when one adopts a dog from an animal shelter, he or she not only gets to save money but also gets to adopt healthy dogs. There is a common misconception that animals found in animal shelters usually have something wrong with them. The fact is there are numerous reasons that may make one give up a pet to an animal shelter.
