Ultimately, Clark’s decisions to dismiss the drug dealers, drug users, and troublemakers and stick by his values prove to be ingenious. In relatively short order, the atmosphere in the school becomes conducive for learning. Clark’s school does not end up being taken over by the state government, because more than enough students pass the state-required exam. While I commend Clark for righting the sinking ship, I would not have gone about it in the same manner. My course of action would focus on getting the parents involved in the school.
These families do not work a typical 9-5, this does not mean that they are not involved with their children’s school. They do what they can, when they can. Or they may only have one vehicle between two parents, and job schedules conflict. Just because they aren’t at every event, don’t rule them out based on negative assumptions. These assumptions lead to lower academic expectations of these students and an overlook of what these families bring to the classroom and the

School uniforms are not only items that cause a lack of freedom of expression but also a largely ineffective way to help solve the problems they were meant to. Actually, look at it this way “Consider for a moment the problem of gangs. The wearing of gang colors is only a symptom of much deeper social problems, and in most of the schools where gangs are prevalent, the wearing of gang colors has already been banned. Uniforms do not address the complex social realities that lead to gang culture”. (“Point: The High Cost of School Uniforms”).
School uniforms can also be a very uncomfortable fashion that students would not take a liking to. They also won’t be the “quick fix” that many people think they are. The first reason uniforms should not be required is that most schools across the country believe uniforms take away from an individual’s identity, so they don't require their students wear them. In today's world a person’s identity and having a good sense of self is important to the diversity that Americans have shown in the past. In schools that require uniforms the student body all look like the same person, very bland and boring people.
When George, Sam, and Rameck were in University High, they didn’t have teachers that were motivated. “We had a few dedicated teachers at the high school who pushed us to learn and forced us to do our work, but too many others just didn’t know how to reach us and didn’t seem to care” (59). The teachers don’t have the desire to help students or care, therefore, Sam, Rameck, and George's grades drop. This proved how important of a role teachers play on a student's academic life. If the teachers didn’t care about their education, how would you expect students to stay in school when the teachers don’t care whether they attend or not.
Anything in life should not be given to anyone it should be earned or suffer the consequence. The fear of failing for some students is scary, he or she does not want to fail and if there motivated the student would most likely try harder and pay more attention in school. In example, when I was in high school I would never concentrate on social studies thinking it was important to me and one day my teacher came up to me telling me I would fail and not graduate this year because of my lack of effort in his class. From there on it got me thinking of my future and I didn’t want to fail and be back in high school for another year for stupid mistakes I made, so the next semester I work harder then ever and passed the class with an A. Sometimes a little motivation and being afraid of failure can motivate someone to work
I don’t like the point that her son Matt does not work, he must to work if he wants to be in a higher social class. He just stays home, doing nothing. In one of the story is about classism in the Anderson High School, a public school in one of Austin’s upper middle class neighborhoods. After I saw the video, I realized that they are divided into many groups. In White Plains High School we are divided in groups but not like them.
Yes, boys are bad at school; I can say this because I’m a boy and I see everything first hand, my peers are less and less interested in school and college, they often talk about just either dropping out of high school and getting a job, graduating and just work and not go to college or simply join the military. If they fall back on their work they don’t get any special treatment and thus are not helped, they are simply left to fail. I am not one of those boys, mostly because my parents wouldn’t stand for it and no matter how much they get on my nerves when it comes to school, I understand why they push me. They simply don’t want their oldest son ending up in a dead-end job for the rest of his life. I’m lucky, because the other boys that don’t plan for college or simply don’t even want to bother with school usually don’t get support from their parents, so why can’t the school do
Why? Because low income family’s have a hard enough time supporting themselves, therefore parents are much less likely to donate to the school, volunteer for school meetings, or fund raisers, and also attracts lower performing teachers. There have been many tests and revisions in schools with firing teachers, to having new teaching models to try and improve the educational achievement of poor students, but to no
