9/11 Attacks
On the Tuesday morning of September 11, 2001 we faced a devastating attack from Al Qaeda. Osama bin Laden was the leader during the time and many years afterwards. He was believed to be the leader of the Al Qaeda network and would be hunted down for ten years after these events.
Just weeks before the dreadful day of 9/11 a group of Islamic Terrorists came in to the country looking like normal U.S. citizens. They took the first 2 weeks to learn how to fly air planes so they could high jack them and carry out their mission. After that they purchased plane tickets of the planes they would high jack and so began the terrorist attacks we know as 9/11.
During the time of the high jacking they waited to take over the planes until they were supposed to. It took 15 minutes to take over the planes and 20 to 30 minutes to crash in to the locations they were designated to hit. During the takeover they announced that they had control of the plane and to follow their orders or they blow it up. The military did not know about the take overs until 18 minutes later and they didn’t act, until the first two planes crashed in to the World Trade Center. They didn’t know how many planes when high jacked so they wanted to bomb all of the planes. Instead they ordered the planes to land so they knew which ones where occupied by terrorists.
When the first plane hit the world trade center the people thought it was an accident from people learning how to fly. As the plane sat inside the upper part of the World trade Center the top part of the building started on fire and one of the towers fell. About 16 ½ minutes later another plane crashed hitting the other tower and eventually it fell to the ground. As a result of the World Trade Center crash there was a death toll of 2,800 deaths and 300 bodies found.
