Many people lost their lives that day. One person that was in the northern tower on the 78th floor was, Lucio Caputo. In a New York Times collective diary Lucio stated, “so I went out to my office to look what was going on, and I could not see anything, because there was all this dust. There was like a very thick fog. But I heard some people crying and screaming, but I could not see them, and I thought they were on the other side of the floor, where must have been an explosion.” (“Witness to Apocalypse”) [explain significance and connect to thesis.]

There are historic moments in life that people will always remember: "Where were you on 9/11? "; "Where were you when JFK died?". For the members of the Silent Generation, it was "Where were you when Pearl Harbor was attacked?". It was dubbed the "Day of Infamy" by then-President Franklin Delano Roosevelt: a terrifying day that would live on in Americans' memories for the rest of their lives.
"This welcome news is a credit to our intelligence efforts and brings to justice the architect of the attacks on our country that killed nearly 3,000 people on September 11, 2001," said Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, the ranking Republican on the Homeland Security Committee, in a statement issued Sunday night. Osama bin Laden, the face of terror The news brought some relief to the grieving family members of those killed on 9/11. "This is important news for us, and for the world. It cannot ease our pain, or bring back our loved ones," Gordon Felt, president of Families of Flight 93, said in a statement. "It does bring a measure of comfort that the mastermind of the September 11th tragedy and the face of global terror can no longer spread his evil."
He couldn’t even believe what was happening. Watching planes crashing to the Trade Center, seeing people only way is to jump off the building from the 78th floor, and then realizing we were being attacked. 9/11 was the day America changed and it is the worst attack in U.S history. More than three thousand died and our country in mixed emotions. Quickly fell on al-Qaeda, and in 2004, the group's leader, Osama Bin Laden, who had initially denied involvement,
The ten year anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy is nearly upon us, a day that is seared into the memories of everyone who was there or watched it happen on television. The death and destruction on that September morning was unlike anything I’ve ever seen in my life. My immediate reaction to watching this horror unfold was and still is, “let’s find the bastards that did this and torture them in public for the world to see”. After the planes hit, hundreds of people jumped to their deaths, their only other option was to burn alive, some holding hands as they threw themselves to the mercy of their God. Thousands of people died that day and the volunteers who searched through the rubble to find survivors are continuing
Now that he became really successful, he felt bad that he proved Vladek wrong because at similar ages;Vladek went through Auschwitz while Artie became successful and famous through the publication of Maus. Pavel then points out that they were both in two totally different circumstances, Auschwitz and Rego Park, and that Vladek might have done these actions because he felt guilt that he survived the Holocaust while many of his relatives and friends died in concentration camps. Due to this guilt, he tried to imply that he was always right to
He walks you through the whole day and the events after. Then he goes through the process of the leading up to war. After that he talks about the Katrina disaster and then into the financial agenda. The two points that President Bush brings across in this book that really sets you back and think wow, how does one man take on that much responsibility is the chapter on 9/11 and the chapter that talks about the time leading up to the war. 9/11 was the worst disaster in this generations history, and the President takes you through step by step the day that it happened and the next several days after.
An important moment in history was the Sept. 11th suicide attacks on the U.S. that was coordinated by Al-Qaeda, sending our country into another war. The 9/11 attacks were so significant to the world because it was the biggest planned hijacking and took the most innocent lives during the 21st century. The horrific events now constitute as part of United States history and have become an influence in decisions still being made to this day. On September 11, 2001 two planes crashed into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City. A third plane then crashed into the Pentagon in Washington D.C. and a fourth plane crashed in Pennsylvania after the passengers attempted to regain control of the plane from the hijackers.
Every day I think about 9/11 it paints a picture in my head of the 2 towers falling and people jumping from them to the ground and killing them instantly. People on the ground running and screaming for their lives. It also makes my heart drop when I think of what happened that day. It could have been worse, our country could have been bombed and we all could have died. This attack is why we have been in war for the past 10 years and we have come a long way since that attack.
