This allows me to focus more on the issue at hand and worry less about people’s opinions. The downside to this would obviously be that I’m close minded generally. The dreaded “my road or the highway” mentality could play against me. Not to be discouraged over my faults I looked into the next test to see what motivates me and where I could inspire others. The growth aspect of the motivation test was the largest contributing factor.
In order to be successful one needs to have a great motivator. It takes a lot of determination, and patients in order to reach and surpass set goals. For me my motivator is success. I not only want to be successful but I feel the need to be successful in today’s day and age. From my experiences as a student I have come to the realization that education is a very powerful, enriched, and very promising tool to have.
LSI Style Interpretations Learning ones strengths and weaknesses is the doorway to discovering how to become successful. The hard part comes in being open to the idea that you can become a better employee, leader & person. After getting past making the initial decision the adventure of becoming a better person can be a fun journey that will bring rewards for the rest of your life improving your personal and professional goals. After taking the Life Styles Inventory I quickly recognized this “test” was much better than the ordinary personality test. Being someone who is already ambitious about becoming a better person I took this assignment very seriously to see if the foundation that I have been building off from was a sturdy one.
Gregory S. Forest: Our success in the past has been largely due to out of the box creativity and qualitative team work which has resulted in high standards of performance. It is now time to put in a dose of brainstorming and lateral thinking to recognize the internal hassles that are affecting the general scheme of work. When things are not moving smoothly it’s essential to revisit the existing system and find out the root cause. The careful strategy planning that we use to create winning campaigns for our clients has to be brought in to solve the present impasse. Before an outsider tells us that we have a problem, we need to put our house in order.
I was surprised that my blind spot was identified to be overconfidence in process because I rarely feel confident in anything. My values were described to be justice and fortitude and resultant behaviors are that I demonstrate courage and steadiness in the face of obstacles and I tend to avoid rash actions. My ethical lens directs my academic behavior by giving me good reasoning skills and allowing me to think through problems carefully and research all options. My ethical lens influences my critical thinking because it allows me to make informed decisions that I find are best for the well-being of everyone around me. I believe that a person’s emotions can influence critical thinking because some people’s ethical lens is more heartfelt and can let them make decisions with their emotions instead of with their knowledge and brain.
Leadership Case 10 What do Mr. Cotes ideas on results and learning mean to you? I believe that results and learning are probably the most important parts of learning and leadership to rely on in business. It was neat to read that he is focused on getting results in the right ways. It is very important to set your company up for success in the future while still maintaining the results one is trying to achieve. I believe that learning somewhat comes from being enthusiastic and always willing to try new things.
As long as our cravings are fed by our motivation, we move towards growth, and self-actualization. Preventing indulgence can make us sick and act evilly while satisfying our needs is healthy. WHAT REALLY MOTIVATES PEOPLE 3 To attain psychological precedence, after a need is satisfied it will stop acting as a motivator. Then, the next need which is one rank higher will start to motivate. The process will continue till self-actualization is reached.
Personal Reflection Paper In my first discussion question that I answered for this course I said that the difference between thinking and critical thinking was the way that we act upon a thought. I also said that a critical thinker will ask more questions to have a better idea about a particular issue. According to Elder (2009), “It is the art of analyzing and evaluating with the goal of improving thought.” (p.9). During this course I have learned many interesting subjects in relation to critical thinking, but there are three that I found to be most significant. The first one is that individuality means more than claiming independence, it means achieving it by acknowledging the influences that have shaped my thinking, by sorting and evaluating my ideas and attitudes, and finally by choosing the best ideas by resisting the pressure of habit and by changing the ways that I think because the evidence tells me to do so.
It requires that we test and verify that which we already believe, but just as importantly it helps us understand the other side of an issue and literally give us a better appreciation of the true complexity of an issue. I think this is one of the biggest things I’ll take away from the course. The question for this paper was how this course has made me a better business leader. Quite simply it has taught me to challenge what I believe until I can verify it and to realize that someone disagreeing with my point of view may be one of the better “gifts” I could receive. I am a business expert in my field and yet after researching my topic, I found that there were several perspectives and applications that I had yet to consider.
Success is also something that is viewed differently in the eyes of everyone. This is because success means doing what you have always wanted to do, being where you have always wanted to be. If a man’s goal in life is to eventually get married to a good wife and have many happy children, and he accomplishes that, then he could view himself as having success. Success basically means being happy with what you are doing in life. Success is in some ways a state of the mind.
