SEJ manages a national franchise of independently owned convenience stores. SEJ uses its IT to actively collect and analyse individual customer purchase pattern data at the point-of-sale in each franchise storem which are correlated with local social and environmental factors to develop a remarkably reliable, realtime predictive model. SEJ’s IT system enables franchisees to predict customer purchasing behavior, store-by-store, item-by-item, hour-by-hour, effectively enabling management of a supply cain of business partners to stock stores just in time according to changing customer demand. Seven Eleven reaction paper SEJ Japan manages franchisers of small private convenience stores, which are typical for Japan due to its small land. SEJ has a complex and well thought through IT system to collect and analyze the data concerning their customer needs and demands. This enables them to predict the purchasing behavior of their customers and have a very efficient supply chain of partners to change inventories just in time according to the different customer demands. Because of these very well organized database systems SEJ has managed to become the number one convenience store in Japan and number eight in the world. Their key principles are: * Reduction of lost opportunity * Effective Item Control and Well-Planned Product Supply Management * Commitment to Customer Satisfaction with Original Product Development and Friendly Service These key principles all seem to go towards the goal of having satisfied customers by being well and effectively organized.
