Jason Mercier Human Science 220 March 5, 2013 Mary Jean Stevenson The food that I consumed that provided protein for me was pizza with 25 grams, the two cheese burgers I ate provided 22 grams of protein. The bagel with egg sausage and cheese gave me 22.6 grams of protein, over all my protein totaled up to 95 grams of protein which was below the recommended DRI requirement. My carbohydrates were provided by the slice of pizza, cheeseburgers and fries along with white breads and apple sauce for a total of 179 grams. Lipids my multivitamin provided 86 percent of vitamin A, D and E. Most of my trans fatty acids came from the cheese burgers and sausage bagel. Looking at my total intake compared to the DRI requirements I will need to increase with more carbohydrates which I get from eating more bread, beans, milk, potatoes and a large number of foods. The food that I ate those three days was not complete because of the low amount of carbohydrates that didn’t provide enough protein, vitamin D, and calcium. I was surprised that I did not meet the protein, carbohydrate, and lipids were below DRI standards. I always thought by lowering food intake or smaller proportions of junk foods would prevent me at my older age from gaining weight which is incorrect. It is very important to keep macronutrient amounts in the recommended range. Overtime, a severe deficiency in any of these nutrients can compromise your energy levels, growth and eventually your ability to survive. Without enough fiber, a type of carbohydrate that your body cannot digest, you might experience constipation and hemorrhoids.
