For example, the most effective method would be, to respect the students and their feelings before they can respect you. Dr. Michaels stated that, “You will gain respect by knowing the emotional, physical, and psychological place of your students. “Show that you care.” This all leads back to students wanting to know that their teacher not only cares about their education but them as an individual. As an after school instructor, I have dealt with many cases where a students didn’t feel like they had to show me respect right off the bat. Which is something that I can understand, because children don’t really comprehend the importance of respect or manners, its something that has to be taught to them.
Most students don’t want to disappoint their teacher and having to appeal to the teacher for not having the homework turned in on time, So they will make sure to keep up with their work and what is expected of them. By having requirement like due date allows students to be mindful of prioritizing and time management. For teachers, building these bonds with students helps to develop an extensive repertoire of strategies, tools and methods
I would also establish a system whereby my students complete a record card or form detailing name, contact information and any other relevant information such as medical needs. Regulations out of the way, personalities are important. I believe that if I am friendly, my learners will relax and know they can feel secure in my class when it starts. Nobody likes to learn with a grumpy teacher. I will always do a fun warm up which helps break the ice.
I felt that there were a lot of things I did well as a teacher. It didn’t take a lot of time for the students to open up to me, and feel comfortable to ask questions. I really enjoyed answering the questions each student had, and even teaching some students how to conjugate verbs and use them. I also thought that I did a great job in encouraging the students, and not letting them just slip by when I knew they were capable of doing better. In one case, we all had to make a fool of ourselves by dancing to the alphabet song, but I can guarantee that the students won’t soon forget the words to the song.
The teacher provided physical and mental safety from insult and diminishment. Mike Rose emphasized that a good environment actually would help students do better, “And there was safety to take risks, to push beyond what you can comfortably do at the present, ‘coaxing out thinking along,’ as one of Steve Gilbert’s student put it, bringing out our best interpretive abilities” (46). These democratic classrooms also showed the amazing respect of people toward another, especially toward students of different ethnicities. They respected each other’s background, their languages, and history. They helped one another study and made them feel comfortable.
They must be able to communicate effectively and confidence helps with this. The more meetings a person attends the more confidence they should gain and then they build up the ability to communicate their points more effectively. Any points raised should be done so assertively and clearly but also calmly. Other people’s points of view must be taken in account and it is vital not to let anger or frustration influence how you speak to others. Staying professional is a very important point to bear in mind at all times.
Many pupils find it easier to talk to a classroom assistant than a teacher. Trust is an important element in the relationship and must never be jeopardised, (except where there is the suspicion of crime). Every child is unique and their needs and rights are paramount. Personal preferences should be set aside and children should be treated equally and with dignity and respect, regardless of background. Positive relationships are built upon key qualities that practitioners must possess.

People learn something different everyday even though they may not pay attention to the lesson. People take education for granted as well as continuing to become more educated over the course of life. People with disabilities thrive at the chance to learn because the odds are against them. What most people take for granted is what people with disabilities wish they could accomplish as easy as those without disabilities.
(Erikson) Another, amazing theory that I can compare this classroom and teachers, their practice and professionalism, children are motivated to learn on what they are interested on, the teacher nurtures that ability so that the children grow and learn. I was in awe the genuine respect the children received by the teachers. They respected the child’s ideas and decisions. However, there were incidents that the teacher had to sit a child down to control behavior, the teacher called it “Time to take a break”. Establish a few firm rules that are easy to remember and include the class in establishing these rules. When they are challenged, it should be addressed immediately. This will assist your students in knowing that you are in charge. Always be consistent with your classes. The students should know exactly what to expect from you and feel comfortable in knowing that you are always going to be consistent.
