Life lessons involving responsibility, trust and accountability are shown and taught by people who truly care about their team as a whole, not just themselves. In order to achieve greatness in life as an individual, one must be taken out of their comfort zone and take hold of the responsibility in order to accomplish a goal. The football team at Woodinville High School was not very successful during the years of 2009 and 2010. They failed to make playoffs both years and the athletes in the 2011 class knew a call to action had to be done to make positive changes within the program. Growing up as a kid playing sports with most of the guys in my graduating class since I was in elementary school, it was noticed over the years that the senior leadership who most of the athletes are conditioned to look up to, were not exactly leaders.
These numbers clearly show that the more you play football the more likely you are to become depressed down the road. There is also no debate that the health of players should be the top priority for any organization in charge of football. While it is easy for some to say football is too dangerous to be played it is harder to admit that the general public is the biggest reason why it is still being played. The population's obsession with the game of football is the driving force behind the game that the same exact people are saying should not be played. Football players know the risk they put themselves at every day and they have made a conscious decision that the risk is worth the reward.
Countless research and evidence wouldn't keep high school football fans off the field. Football enthusiasts have a passion for the game despite all research showing the effects of colliding head to head with another football player. They have emotion, excitement and dedication that non-football fans would never be able to understand. To be a 'true' fan requires the 'living' experience of football. It is not about being a mere spectator, but about being a participant.
When Fighting Back Isn’t Fighting When faced with situation that seems to be very wrong and standing up for your beliefs is right is the hardest thing to do, what would most of us choose? In “Satyagraha” by Alden R. Carter, the captain of a football team and the team’s trainer have to make just such a decision when one of their teammates gets abusive. One theme throughout the story is that if you stand up to your beliefs and are determined, then you can accomplish anything. In this story, the trainer has to stand firm on his belief of non -violence when the all-star defensive end vents his anger physically on him because of a decision during the game that contributed to the team’s loss. The team captain has to also stand up for his belief that the defensive end’s behavior is wrong, but he also learns from the trainer that there is an alternative way to do this.
Protection of NFL Players Years ago no one gave a thought to the physical contact endured by football players. Practice after practice, game after game football players suffer through countless hard tackles, the effects of which, have never been considered. Recently, however, that has started to change. The NFL has recently implemented new rules to try and protect football players from the damaging concussions sustained as a result of hard hits by other players. These recent changes have sparked a debate about whether or not these rules go too far.
Biff didn't have the same drive that Cory had but he still loved the game, it was a lot easier for him to be more interested in football when he had the support from his father. Cory and Biff both wanted to make something of themselves through football. This never happened for either of the boys because Cory's father wouldn't sign papers for a recruiter that came all the way from North Carolina just to see Cory, as for Biff he never passed his math class which kept him from graduating. Even though the boys didn't make a career for themselves out of football they both still treasured the sport, maybe even more than their own father. Cory and Biff both had unusual fathers.
Second Chances The first thought that comes to mind when a football player is brought up is a bright, intelligent, will powered person. For Michael Vick, though, none of those ideas come to mind any more except an abusing human. Given the facts Michael Vick does not deserve a second chance. Michael Vick used to play in the big leagues as a quarterback with according to the Star Ledgers Editorial Page he has unparalleled talent, legs that made eye popping video-game moves and an arm that could throw a football across time zones. Recently, though, Michael Vick was charged with animal cruelty to the extreme.
It requires drive, focus, the ability to work as a team, physical strength, but more importantly mental strength. Cheerleading is a year-round sport. We really don’t get breaks. Even if we aren’t practicing, we’re training. A lot of people think that football games are the highlight of a cheerleader’s career—wrong again.

Stories were often told to me about his playing days and shortly after someone would pop the big question; “Do you play ball”, or “Are you going to play ball”? Those questions made not want to play because I felt I needed to be my own person. Finally when I reached to high school I decided to play football. Little did I know this decision would change my life for ever. When I first arrived on the football team there were no expectations.
