Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligence Theory

Based on Howard Gardner’s multiple intelligence theory, he believes that a variety of people regardless of their cultural and economic backgrounds are capable of problem solving and doing many different job professions because they encompasses the ability to create products, to problem solve, or offer services that are appreciated within a culture of society. Subsequently, Gardner concluded that each person possessed each intellectual components and the each of his eight identified intellectual components function in different sections of a human’s brain. In addition, Gardner believes that all typically developing humans poses each of the eight different types of intelligence at various degrees. In each typical developing human possess various levels of these intelligences that may work together or individually. Gardner labeled these eight types of intelligences as following: Linguistic, Logical-Mathematical, Bodily-Kinesthetic, Musical, Visual-Spatial, Intrapersonal, Interpersonal, and Naturalistic. According to Gardner’s verbal/linguistic intelligence and individual process the ability to understand and manipulate words and languages. This type of intelligence includes speaking, writing, reading, and other for of verbal and written communication. As and English language development instructor, it is important that I learn how to enhancing students verbal/linguistic intelligence skills In which include writing, speaking, reading, and other forms of verbal and written communication that are required standards in my classroom. In my class I am able to enhance students verbal/ linguistic intelligence by requiring them to keep journals, have group discussions, ad even play word games. I encourage student to symbolic and public speaking skills throw poetry. Today, logical/ mathematical intelligence is highly valued in the educational field’s learning environment.
