I believe that we should decrease the amount of proportions, junk food, and sugars we give to our children. We could also have our children participate in at least an hour of physical activity, have healthy eating patterns, or a combination of the two, with genetics and lifestyle because both play dramatic roles in determining a child's weight. 43% of our kids like to watch TV more than exercise which plays a dramatic role on adolescents especially the girls. And we can stop it obesity with fitness. Fitness is the condition of being physically fit and healthy.
English 1A Essay #1 6 Oct 11 High Fructose Corn Syrup If high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) were to be thought of as candy, then parents would be more cautious on the amount of intake their children take every day. Almost 65% of Americans are either overweight or obese today, compared with 47% in the 1970s. High fructose corn sweeteners, which are cheaper to produce than sugars from cane and beets, began being more widely used in the late 1980s and 1990s, when Americans’ weight started creeping up, says Barry Popkin, a nutritionist professor at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill (Hellmich, 1). If people do not begin to actively read the nutrition labels on food or drink products, expect all Americans to be overweight. An overweight America may be fixated on fat and obsessed with carbs, but
Early research suggests that 1000 mg daily of stevioside, a chemical compound in stevia, might reduce blood sugar levels after meals by 18% in people with type 2 diabetes. Stevia and Obesity: Eating too many calories is often the cause of obesity. Added sugars are roughly 16 percent of all calories people consume. Sodas, fruit drinks and energy drinks contain high amounts of these sugars. Liquids don't satisfy as much as solid foods, so people tend to lose track and compensate for the calories in their drink with the calories they eat.
Therefore, the focus should be more on the diet of the child rather than exercising. It is very good to exercise daily, but in this case, laziness is not the main culprit in child obesity. All these variables that have been stated have consequences that lead to obesity amongst children. The psychological result of an obese child is lower self-esteem, a negative body image, and an overall unfavorable social health. A child who is dealing with overweight or obesity more than likely have bad experiences with other children
Consumers need to be aware of all the sweet 2 drinks we take in, and realize that we take a lot more in then what we think. As a parent we are told that Gatorade and sports drinks are good for our children, but if you look at the ingredients you will see that they are just as bad. Even the diet sodas are bad for you. People consume most of their calories in sodas and sweet drinks. We need to make these sugary drinks not so easy to buy.

Parents are the ultimate authority when it comes down to what their children eat. Of course they can’t all always see what their children eat, but if they teach them healthy eating habits they’re less likely to go for the wrong food choice. (junk food) “encourage these kinds of simple polices in the home, they might make some progress against the purveyors of fat food and cholesterol.” (Wientraub paragraph 6) Parents tell their children what to eat from birth they might as well teach them healthy eating habits. Exercise should be an essential part of life. Parents should teach their children good exercise habits as well.
Milk is also said to help speed up weigh loss and reduce body fat, because of the indispensible mix of nutrients that appear to speed up metabolism and increase the body's ability to burn fat. Lastly, it was found that the people who had a greater intake of milk saw a decrease in the risk of ischaemic, inadequate blood flow, and stroke. Although in the past it appeared that milk consumed in high quantities was a healthy decision for any person, new research suggests that milk could be more detrimental than valuable for a diet. It has been shown that it can weaken a child's ability to absorb iron, and because milk has nearly no iron there could be a higher risk of iron deficiency. There is also new issues arising because
“More than 70 percent of obese adolescents retain their overweight and obese condition even during their adulthood” (What Are Children Munching On?). Giving children not much of a choice but to consume these foods is setting them up for failure. Repeated lunches of this sort changes diets and can cause heart disease. These diseases may occur currently, under ones nose, or even further along in ones life like a silent sneak attack of sickness. Students need to be well rested and well focused to truly succeed in schools.
