Is knowledge dangerous? “A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.” - Francis Bacon Knowledge is the ultimate key to all the doors and opportunities that you will encounter in your life. If this statement was untrue, we wouldn't be able to read, write or comprehend what I'm writing to you today. However, the danger behind possessing knowledge is endless as we are unaware of the possible application of that very knowledge. The 9/11 bombings were extremely life-changing and tragic and for many people, that day holds a dear place in their hearts. The word terrorist has since been associated with those very bombings and events post 9/11 too. The question on many people’s lips was, how did they do it? Were they taught the skill behind bomb-making, and did they fly the planes with much difficulty? The answer to all those questions is but one; they learnt. It is a sick irony and a very tragic coincidence that the terrorists behind the 9/11 attacks we're in fact taught by US Pilots how to fly the very planes that ended thousands of peoples live and left America and many other parts of the world in terror. In that situation, the knowledge behind the motive proved to be destructive and in effect, dangerous. Similarly, dating back to the beginning of mankind and the story of Adam and Eve, in their Garden of Eden, we are given another prime example of how knowledge can be very dangerous. The traditional story states that a serpent sat in the tree of knowledge of good and evil and tempted Eve into eating from said tree when she was forbidden to do so by God. Furthermore, she offered Adam the fruit, who accepted and inevitably ate their way to ultimate punishment, whereby, all men would be damned to work until their backs broke to provide for their children, and all women would suffer the pains of labour and childbirth. This is a very controversial topic for feminists
