Melissa McDonald Blue Zone Reflection- Lab 2 5/21/2012 It was very interresting when he started to talk about the idea of doing physical activities that come naturally to humans rather than "pumping iron" and doing triathalons. I very much agree with this idea because I believe the world (especially here in America) have moved so far away from natural things. It is actually rare to do ANYTHING "natural" here in America anymore. From the foods we eat to the activities we participate in, we have moved to a completely robotic and unnatural society. I thought it was also interresting how he mentioned that doing some sort of physical activity for five minutes multiple times throughout the day rather then being immobile all day and then going to the gym for 45 minutes at the end is actually better for you.

In the beginning, humans gained cognitive skills, were able to correctly physically maneuver, and seek the way to better life for oneself. The human species developed a form of diverse learning; having a form of behavioral guide that differs from normal processing of information humans pursue to better understand ones behavior. Since the beginning of mankind, psychology expanded from the first transcriptions of the Greek era suggesting the alteration that coexists between philosophy and psychology. Seeking the historic approach within psychology encompasses over many mindboggling explanations within the humans intellect having minimal knowledge of what the predecessors within a
Senior Capstone Experience MAN2501-14 Week 1 Although I am aware of the concept of the Career Portfolio, I have never taken the time to actually put one together. I did not realize how much of a benefit this could be when job searching. My understanding is that a portfolio will enable me to stand out from anyone else in the interviewing process. So far the five components that I have a Work Philosophy, Resume, Skill Areas, Work in Progress and References. To expand on these components I feel I should use more action words and elaborate with my transferrable skills.
Auto ethnography can be defined as describing people by way of comparing to another. In The Life of Olaudah Equiano, the narrative is taken from the author’s African home and thrown into a Western world, completely foreign to him. Throughout the narrative, the author maintains his African innocence and purity of intent; two qualities he finds sorely lacking in the Europeans. Olaudah Equiano takes on Western ideals while keeping several of his African values; this makes him a man associated with two cultures but a member of neither. Although Equiano is initially frightened by new Western ideas and customs, writing “and I was now persuaded that I had gotten into a world of bad spirits, and that they were going to kill me” (Equiano 755).
He tackles everything from eating only local food to giving up toilet paper, all in search of a clear environmental conscience. In addition to chronicling his struggles and successes, Beavan shares shocking environmental statistics relevant to the changes he is making, which add a sense of urgency to the lifestyle shift he demonstrates and advocates. Equally enlightening are the personal and sociological observations that Beavan makes as he becomes an outsider looking in on our way of life. No Impact Man is useful as a guidebook for changing your life, and it's an entertaining reflection of the life of its author. The most valuable aspects of the book are the many suggestions for lifestyle changes, ranging from simple to radical, that can be adopted by readers.
I had forgotten about the other types of learning and communication methods, and I settled into what is comfortable for me. Because I am a visual, tactile learner I mostly got out of my seat and taught and communicated by demonstration, rather than acknowledging that there are different modes of communicating. I am now ready to consider and implement different ways to communicate. This is describing to the nurse in detailed manner what the picture is, by auditory instruction. In the” Making Assignments” portion of the reading I discovered that I have learned these skills while not being aware of the process or terms describing them.
Abstract After completing the Jung Typology Test, I found my personality type is ENJT. Through further research, I have learned that each letter has its own characteristics within my personality type. The E stands for Extraversion, N for Intuition, T for Thinking (which I do a lot of) and J for Judging. ENTJ personality types are natural born leaders. I often find myself taking charge and directing people whenever I can.
INTDSP 101 Thinking Critically: The Basis of a College Education I have always been a critical thinker and did not even recognize it. After reading chapter five in my college success book I realized that my skills in researching were that of a critical thinker. I was always perceived as an argumentative or strong-willed with my views. I always sought out information to support my theory or point of view because I despised being wrong. In chapter five you learned exactly what a critical thinker is, how to successfully look for information, what are some successful websites to look for information on and how to voice an open opinion.
