Life in 15 years, if you would have asked me 15 years ago where I thought my life would be now I would have never thought that college, a son, a great relationship, or a career in the military were ever realistic options. I used to make jokes that the life expectancy of a bald-headed Mexican in the San Fernando Valley was 30 years old, I’m glad that was just a joke. My main goal in 15 years is to be successful. My son is 8 years old; by the time he is 23, I hope I will continue to be a great father, mentor, role model and a friend to him. Andrew loves sports, especially baseball and basketball. I try to be supportive and motivating, so that regardless of win or loose, he sticks with it and continues to get better. Of course, I’d prefer him to play football and possibly become a future San Diego Charger, but watching him grow up doing what he loves will be fulfilling for the both of us. I have learned since then and have been paying them off. I’ve managed to raise my credit score high enough to where it will be beneficial in my future investments. I would love to retire from the Navy, unfortunately, all branches of the military are downsizing so it’s getting more difficult to stay in, let alone retire. I need to become more serious with saving money, I’ve been saving off and on since I joined the Navy. I just need to become more consistent. I already have 2 retirement plans, one through the Navy’s TSP program, and I’ve had another retirement plan from working at UCSD. If I’m able to retire in 8 years, the little contributions I’m making to my retirement will add up nicely. I’m also looking into which one would be more beneficial to me, so I can just roll it all into one.
