Dominiece Cooley 9/21/12 Spoken Communication Instructor Gaines Informative Speech Extreme Couponing! I know for a fact that everyone in this room would love to receive free money every week, and in reality it is mailed to us or thrown into our yards and most of you throw it away. I’m talking about coupons; coupons have a lot of pros, including acting as free money. Extreme couponing is not only a hobby for the less fortunate, but it’s also a lifestyle that can save any and everybody millions of dollars each year. Now, I really could not decide whether to tell you how to be an extreme couponer or the values so I decided to tell the values of it, but to also give a few pointers on how to be one.
These tactics summon a sense of need that, in turn, cause people to believe whole-heartedly that the product is a necessity, however, in reality, it is merely a luxury. For example, braces have become intensively popular within the last couple decades and are now considered by many a need. Indeed, it is nice to have perfectly straight pearly-whites, it is not nearly a necessity by any means, but rather a want by many crooked teeth victims. As a result of advertising, society's views of wants versus needs have altered dramatically, causing people to
Often theoretically sound interventions are not used due to therapists fearing for the integrity of their accountability as they would not be sticking to their risk management principles. The main issue
Thomas Nagel’s “Moral Luck” Nagel begins his argument by explaining the problem with moral judgment upon individuals is that it does not take into consideration the actions that are not within one’s control, or is not their fault. That when we place the moral judgment upon a person as an object, independent of the external forces involved, and whether the outcome is good or bad, this would be considered ‘moral luck’. This brings in to question the validity of any moral judgment, because the more one looks into the given situation and what factors were outside the control of the person being judged, the more one sees that any moral responsibility is diminished. And with this statement, the addition that even our system of belief that we use to make these moral judgments is also largely based upon things, internal and external, that are beyond our control. Nagel’s basic thesis of this issue
Your back straightens up and your eyes become orbs of pure joy as you buy tickets online for the first screenings. I’m sure everyone has experienced the excitement of having their favourite novel or play be turned into a movie or vice versa. However, sometimes our high expectations are not satisfied and the film does not do the novel justice. Like many of Shakespeare’s other plays ‘the Taming of the Shrew’ has been transformed into ’10 Things I Hate About You’ a film directed by Gil Junger. There are several positive aspects of transforming this text as society’s values and community standards changed throughout time due to many factors such as the development of entertainment and the changing perception of woman.
There are quite a few weaknesses to Bentham’s theory as well as strengths. A main weakness of Bentham’s version is the fact that it can’t cope with emergency situations as you would not have time to measure out all the possibilities so you would have to act on instinct in case of emergencies. Another weakness is the fact that it is a self-defeating theory , morality is
In what ways has it not been successful? Wikipedia is an open source collaborative online encyclopedia that changes every day says our text (Bowles 2010). And I do believe that Jimmy Wales had a great idea in starting Wikipedia. I know whenever I want to look something up, like an actor’s birthday, Wikipedia is the first website I search. The website has been successful because millions of people reference it every day, and even though it is not a credible source, it can lead you in the right direction.
As if failure is just something you can’t afford. Failure, however,
I believe change is always good but not all that change that has been made over the past ten years. In a positive way, technology has advanced when it comes to the movies about our history are more realistic and people can relate a lot more. In a negative way, I feel the media period is destroying our younger generation. Children are “looking up to” their “role models” who are celebrities that are very inappropriate. Sex is about the only thing used now a days to sell anything.
Old Spice The power of advertising has never had a reach so far as it has over the last decade. Billions of dollars every year are thrown the ways of writers and directors to create an appeal to audiences everywhere in hopes consumers will purchase their product and stay on board for repeat business. This is especially critical for companies such as Proctor and Gamble to do with older brands such as Old Spice. Having been around for over seventy years, Old Spice was in need of a campaign that would not only appeal to the purchasing audience, but also to revamp the image of such a staple in the hygiene industry. The advertising drive of 2010 featured the hit slogan “The man your man could smell like” (OldSpice, 2010).
