Dumas stated, “Displaying the hospitality that Iranians so cherish, my father extended a dinner invitation to everyone who called”(321). “As a result, we found ourselves feeding dozens of people every weekend”(Dumas 321). Her mom intended dinner starting on Monday for the next weekend. Since she didn’t drive, her husband took her shopping every Tuesday for all the provisions she needed for the dinner. Availability and freshness of food and herbs determined how long the shopping trip would be.
To surprise Elizabeth Luke hired a chief for her and his anniversary; he was supposed to be the best in town! A couple weeks later they went on a trip to the mountains and found tons of items for their home and what do you know the same chief that cooked for them for their anniversary had a restaurant in the mountains, so they ate at his restaurant and it tasted just as good as the first time they had it! 8 years later Luke had to get major surgery on his back because he had been having back problems for years, he was terrified he had never had surgery in his life. Couple days later, the doctor had to check on him to make sure everything was going well, and thankfully everything went well in surgery and he was fine. The day after he had found out that his father
The Hero! My customer service hero is Jan at Wal-Mart in Woodburn. It was my youngest son’s first birthday and I made the mistake of going in last minute, two hours before the party, to pick out a cake. I had already been to the Wal-Mart in Salem and they had minimal options of cupcakes. So I chose to chance going into Woodburn without a cake and try the Wal-Mart there.

She describes her old town “a dusty little Muskogee County nowhere called Braggs.”(155) she knew her and the family’s lives had changed one morning during breakfast. When they are sitting down for breakfast her father hears a loud noise and starts shooting at a crow. His mother is shocked, and runs outside screaming “Pat, you might ought to check, but I don’t think they do that here!”(155) to her father’s surprise, the neighborhood they moved in did not think of shooting crows as a “national pastime” (155). For this reason, Sarah likes her new Bozeman house. When Sarah was
Our family is all dressed up, and I can smell the evening’s food rooms away and hear the ending sounds of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade on the TV downstairs. We seem like a classic, cookie-cutter family. And then the holiday really begins. My grandma is usually the first to arrive, complete with her leopard-print duffle bag she carried everywhere with her. After her I hear the front door open again and know that, from this point on, the house won’t have another moment of silence.
I know for a fact that some men out there are the only ones that cook in their home. At my house, my dad does all the cooking because my mom is always working really late. This past Christmas my mom had to work all day, so my dad, my brother and I cooked a really nice dinner. We slow-cooked a good sized big turkey, made mashed potatoes, stuffing, and all the good things that go with holiday meals. We had the table set up the right way before the food was cooking on the stove and in the oven.
My mother would cook for myself, my dad and my siblings on some weekends. The most important condiment that would go on top of our pancakes was King’s syrup. It was an inquired taste that grew on me. As I became a young woman and had three beautiful children I would still buy King’s syrup for any food that needed that thick maple syrup taste. It is now 2013 and it
Then all 7 of us piled in an Expedition that only holds 8 with all of our blankets and such and then we headed off down the road to Myrtle Beach S.C. Upon arrival around 3:30ish p.m., my grandfather was already preparing dinner. Before dinner, though, my dad and step-mom started moving the bags from the truck and into the first bedroom which is down a long hallway with hardwood floors and pictures of older family members along the side wall. Then they moved the rest of the bags up to my room and their room. They had to climb a BIG hardwood staircase with 3 big hardwood shelves with lots of pictures of us, grandkids.
I was so excited today. I cleaned the whole house and cooked the dinner by myself which I usually hate to do. But today was a special day. My special friend was coming to see me after five years. Catherine my best friend who moved to a different country from America five years ago was finally coming back to America.
