Communication and Collaboration Strategy GEN/200 Communication and Collaboration Strategy Identifying methods of developing effective communication as well as collaboration between individuals essentially makes the “world go round.” Whether one is considering the professional, educational, or personal aspects of life, it is necessary to apply effective methods of communication and collaboration for without them, there can be no organization or progression for that matter. When considering the extreme varying degrees of individuals in existence from different backgrounds, belief systems, learning styles, as well as personalities, it quickly becomes evident how important it is to find the similarities and differences between them and be able to discover some type of middle-ground from which they may all be able to properly function together harmoniously and efficiently. “There are certain principles hidden deep within our minds that control the way we learn in unique ways…Students benefit by using knowledge about their particular learning style to better manage their learning” (Vincent & Ross, 2001, p. 1,10). With the benefit of being able to identify different types of learning styles and their corresponding effective study techniques comes the challenge of bringing them all together to try to work and learn as a team in various aspects of life. Three particular learning styles include: intrapersonal, interpersonal, and logical/mathematical. Intrapersonal and interpersonal seem to be completely opposite learning styles. While the intrapersonal learning style is dominated by one’s own behaviors and feelings, the interpersonal learning style is centered in the individual’s ability to relate information to others’ behaviors, feelings, and motivations.
